False VAC Ban for over a year
I have received a false VAC ban on the 04. January of 2024.
I haven't had any cheats on my PC, not for CS, not for any game. In december 2023 I bought myself a new PC which had many issues at the start because of a broken RAM Module. I had many bluescreens while playing cs, or just simply using my PC. Maybe the VAC Anti-Cheat detected my bluescreens as a Cheat or something similar. When I had bluescreens I reinstalled Steam fully, in hope to fix my issues. I reinstalled Steam, but the original Steam folder couldnt be deleted, so I created a new folder called "Steam 2" where I installed CS and everything. Maybe this could be also detected wrong by the VAC-System. When I contacted the manufacturer of the PC I bought it from, they told me to send them "Mini-Dump-Data" from Windows. Then they found out that it is an issue because of the RAM and they sent me a new pack of RAM-Sticks. After I changed the RAM Sticks, I no longer had any bluescreens. Several days later (04. January), I got banned by the Valve-Anti-Cheat.
Again: I had no kind of cheats on my PC. It even was a new PC with literally only Steam (with some Games), Discord, Spotify and Opera GX as my Browser installed.
Please help me!

You have to understand that people on the forum won’t be able to help you. The only help you can get is by making a support ticket or sending an email to Gabe about your ban at gaben@valvesoftware.com. He pretty much reads all his emails.

I hope this reaches to someone who can help me, I have already sent so much support tickets which were just answered automatically by Steam and thats it.

And I have written mails to mcjohn@valvesoftware.com, cs2team@valvesoftware.com and Vacreview@valvesoftware.com.

No answer till this day which makes me frustrated.

I understand you, but nothing can be done about it, just like they say, 'it is what it is.'
Wouldnt that suggest its not false?

what do you mean? I havent got any answer, nobody answered me.
Iam just hoping for a human answer from Steam.
Vac bans that are false are reversed.

It has been a year before you decided to post about it, it's not going to be lifted I don't think, I have never heard of a bluescreen, folder rename, or faulty ram modules that could cause a vac ban

Each game on steam has an appid so it would just be running that, I have not heard of renaming a folder leading to a vac ban, but it's steam so when you reinstalled it and had it in a folder with a different name it still is reading from and writing to that folder.

Bluescreens happen, steam is designed to recognize that as an interruption in the service and disconnects vac and you might get a vac error, in order to verify files, but a vac ban sounds strange as it looks for anything that is modifying the data. Ram sticks not working properly would not set off an anticheat unless it was flipping tons of bits which is astronomically low for it to flip even two bits of data

Idk why you received a vac ban. Those situations you described should not trigger one.

Maybe...if you had files that needed verification and you did that after swapping the ram modules out, but it validates your client with the files that would be given to you by the steam servers, so I still don't think even that would do it.

Again...I don't know
Vac bans are given when the account connects to a secure server with known cheats running in the system. If something had been falsely flagged as a cheat it would be automatically removed, the fact your ban is now over a year old means it wasn't false.

Vac bans are permanent, non negotiable, and can't be appealed.

Faceit uses vac along with their own anti cheat.

my faceit got never banned, thats the point
VAC used to be trustworthy at the very least, but now with all the AI cheat detection they are using, it seems like they don't care about false positives anymore.

The Steam discussions aren't the appropriate place to dispute specific bans, so it has been locked.

Please read the following FAQ.
