it's useful only if you are a pro. it's pretty much useless to me.
Idiots will sometimes assume it's a flash.
I used decoy to make enemy thing that I'm behind left corner while I was on right side, so he check left corner and I shoot in his back.
It's also can be used to mask footsteps (only works with rapid fire guns)
I also see enemy throw decoy to A and rush to B, and then all my teammates think it's enemy shooting. I see this so many times. Decoy on A? Enemy must be rushing B. But it's very obvious trick, only silvers or boosted novas get tricked by it.
You can easily tell a decoy from a real person because the sound never sounds like how a player actually fires their gun.
People often don't use it and its totally underutilized which is great for those who do use it.
The decoy can literally act as another body - a ghost of yourself. Use it as if it were another teammate and it can give an incredible advantage.
People focus so much on things like aiming, when in reality, its tactics, movement and deceiving players that is way more effective.
