Significant FPS Drops in CS2 with Decent PC Specs
Hey guys,

I'm having alot of FPS drops while playing CS2, and I'm hoping someone can help me. Here are my specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (8C/16T, 3.8–4.7 GHz)
  • Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid V2 RGB
  • Board: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max WiFi
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3600 MHz
  • GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Gaming X 8G
  • SSD: 1 TB M.2 SATA (WD Blue)
  • PSU: MSI MAG A650BN – 650W
On paper these specs are good but I can't get more thant 180FPS consistently, and I'm having alot of FPS drops to 80-90FPS which is very frustrating

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Lowered in-game graphics settings to prioritize performance.
Set the power plan to “High Performance” in Windows.
Updated all drivers and Windows to the latest versions.
Disabled background applications, NVIDIA Overlay, and Game Mode.
Monitored temperatures to confirm there’s no thermal throttling.

make sure in your bios or the pc settings, you are using DISCRETE graphics and not hybrid.

my CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics, only using the dedicated GPU.

Some people reported low fps on 4:3 setting.
Other than that your settings seem normal.

4060ti has only 4352 cores, a little bit faster than 1080Ti, and those are close to 1080ti numbers after recent update on that specific CPU, Imo seems like thats what youd get.

Happend to me exactly the time u made this post like 30-40 mins ago. Was playing on inferno and suddenly my fps drop to 60-90 from 200. This ♥♥♥♥ is happening since after that big update some days ago. Looks like game is unstable nothing to worry about your pc.

I've already tried 16:9 and 16:10 and it makes no difference at all.

Dude u can try whatever u want, game is unstable. A lot of people with much better pc than yours are reporting fps drops in the last 10 days.

2080 lower fps last 10 days after updates

Try RivaTuner FPS limit with "-noreflex -allow_third_party_software" on parameters.

I know my words might sound silly, but I also experienced a significant FPS drop. I’ve tried many things like updating drivers, verifying the game, and so on, but I still felt the FPS drop. Then I tried closing Discord (because I thought maybe too many applications were running, so I tried closing Discord), and as a result, I no longer experienced any FPS drop. Finally, I reinstalled Discord, and I haven’t had any FPS drops since.
