Custom game with friends

Are the devs a bit special?
Why there isn't the ability to create a game to play with your friends in a few clicks and you need to summon the old gods to even manage to make a custom game?

true and even then you can't remove the ak from custom private matches

last time I tried, just inviting my friend to my lobby in the main menu and starting a practice match worked.

well, my friend had 80 ping though even despite living just across the road, but that's Steam Datagram Relay's fault. I usually just host my own dedicated server when I want low ping (this is summoning the old gods though) (but old gods are always with me anyway at this point)
