The block was deserved. Maybe next time they'll build an infrastructure on some legally white foundation instead.

I posted this comment on another thread, but I'll put it here too, considering the Valve stans just roam around and babble about 'the block was deserved' *cough, cough*.

An awful lot of bootlicking from people who blindly follow Valve or perhaps worry that any good mod impacting CS2 would damage the value of their precious cosmetics.

Counter-Strike was born from modding. Valve recently handed the TF2 community its SDK, for a game they still add cosmetics to. Yet, with CS:GO basically dead, they run in to shut down a total conversion mod for being 'derivative' and infringing upon their IP.

Let's not forget this is the same company that has made millions (maybe billions) from Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Dota, and Garry's Mod - all originally made by modders, then bought/published by Valve. Hell, even the GoldSrc engine was just a massively modified version of Id Software's Quake engine.

Consider Hunt Down the Freeman: awful, buggy, massively controversial, costs real money, used Gordon Freeman in early promotional material, and directly piggy backs off Half-Life and its story. Yet, Valve is fine with that existing, because 'something, something SDK'.

The days of this company doing good for its community, or the days of it hiring and employing passionate modders, are gone. Now pony up and gamble on some textures the community made for our overlords at Valve Software.

It's best you stop gaming, then. Literally every big company would've done exactly what Valve did.

Boot thoroughly licked. [/quote]
Stay based, it won't stop Valve's decision.

It's over bro, the average Steam user is tech illiterate and doesn't care.

CO team played themselves by trying dedicating a decade of their lives trying to make something for people who don't care on an engine that's a pain to work with.

So if valve is like every other company, then why do you guys let gabe get away with making the game more of a casino than a game thats supposed to be fun.

Valve is literally floating on billion dollar yachts on vacation 99% of the year.

Yet they always get a free pass, its one of the strangest things I have ever seen.

Because CS2 alongside Dota 2 are Valve's main priority when it comes to monetization. TF2 is way below the leagues of the aforementioned games so there's nothing to lose there. Also, CS2 is very recent so having another derivative off it is not the smartest decision.

Moreover, the fact that Counter-Strike initially started as a mod and Valve forgetting their roots is an invalid point. At the time when that happened, the gaming industry, the internet and everything else was different.

Hunt Down The Freeman is a mess on its own but they used the official SDK with their own content though I read somewhere that they stole some stuff but that was never clear. Black Mesa is another case and so is Militiary Conflict Vietnam. The latter used the CSGO branch and was build on top of it but it is an story for another day.

Lastly, Valve has the last word. If they say no then you are done for. It's over for you. Their platform, their rules.

Dickerson brings up some interesting points, but let's be clear: CS2 is a completely new experience built from the ground up.
It's different from TF2 or even Dota 2. While those games are fantastic, they have their own unique gameplay and design philosophy. The fact that Valve chooses to prioritize certain projects doesn't mean they disregard the community of others. They're simply focusing on what's best for each individual game. :steamhappy:
Let's also remember that VAC is incredibly effective at keeping CS2 fair and competitive. There are 0 cheaters, 0 bots in CS2, no matter what anyone says. Any claims otherwise are simply false. Valve has worked tirelessly to create a pristine gaming environment for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks For Reading My Insight.
This is concerning because I always saw Valve as the good guys. A pro-gamer company.

I’m not personally interested in this mod but I want to see Valve support modders. I don’t like this at all. I don’t like seeing Valve act like Nintendo.
