RE: Scam
I believed that scamming in nowadays is kinda impossible because of steamguards and everything, but apparently its still possible.

Hijacker did send trade offers from my account to his fake account. This also is proven by the fact that he also sent fake offer to my friend. I have already reported the scammer account.

I was making a trade with my friend, we were exchanging knife and gloves. I made a trade offer and confirmed it and it was indeed my friend who i was trading it. We were even streming eachother the trade and speaking all the time about our information, (steam level and when steam account was made). Steam app didn't say that I will not get any items from trade or even warned me that this is not your friend or anything, like I was saying that we checked this many times only because we are kinda paranoid about the trades even this should not be possible.

I even checked during the last confirmation that all of the trade details are correct and that I am in fact, trading my friend. This check was done via steam guard mobile app. After confirming the details and accepting the trade offer via app, the trade was somehow modified and sent into completely different account. I don't think there is anything I could've done to prevent this, since I triple checked that everything was correct. Steam level matched and the date of account creation matched. There was no sign that I was not accepting a trade offer between me and my friend, no caution message that I would not be receiving any items accepting this trade, nothing. How is a scam like this possible? Knowing how this is done would at least bring me some sort of piece of mind.

API scam

Scan for malware. https://www.emsisoft.com/en/home/antimalware/
Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Change your password on a different secure device
OPTIONAL: Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (if it's empty then don't make any, the point is to have no api keys set)
Its not possible unless you give away such information.
Well just check the past nicknames used by OP. You can't complain about getting stolen if you keep giving your keys to the thief.

How do they support scammers and cheaters? They literally ban people for that.

They support them by making it more and more difficult to recover items or accounts stolen.
Instead of making systems whereby people cannot simply exploit them by using real people, everything is becoming more and more automated because they refuse to spend money on real people working with real people.

They'd rather do what everyone else is doing and sit behind AI and botnets that will manage all of their stuff for them.

If you want to avoid having your stuff stolen; 2FA, regularly change passwords, AND DO NOT LOG INTO ANY WEBSITE THAT REQUIRES YOUR STEAM INFORMATION.
IF YOU LOGIN WITH ONLY THE STEAMAPI, THEY CANNOT DECRYPT YOUR INFORMATION.
BUT IF IT IS A FAKE STEAMAPI YOU LOGIN TO WITHOUT VERIFYING THAT IT IS IN FACT STEAM, YOU LOSE.

Items and accounts cant be stolen.

Why would you need to regularly change your passwords? Ive never changed my steam pass once.

lmao "just uninstall" ...20 years and you are still so clueless about you own basic internet security needs. that's sad indeed.

did you "uninstall" all your online banking too?? according to you thats the only solution.

After a few tickets and threads, nothing has happened. I was mainly expecting some kind of response from Steam for example, banning the scammer who has the items? But does it even matter anymore if the scammer manages to sell the scammed items before getting banned? It mainly makes me wonder if I should start treating this as a business myself if there’s no reaction of any kind.

I understand that if I had done something shady or suspicious with the skins and gotten scammed because of that, I would've just left it at that and admitted my own foolishness. But the fact that I was literally just trying to trade items with a friend, kind of like borrowing them for a change and this happens in that context? That I just can't wrap my head around…

Oh man, that really sucks! It's super frustrating when something like that happens. I can't imagine how upset you must be. Remember, though, Valve is always working hard to keep the community safe and secure. They have amazing systems in place, and they're constantly updating them to stay ahead of scammers.
Don't give up hope! Keep those tickets open and hopefully, Steam Support will be able to help you out. They're really dedicated to making things right for their users. 💪

Best Regards, Respected CS2 Community Leader

We can really see how dedicated they are. Just a few days left before the scammer can sell the scammed items. Hope is starting to fade when there’s no word from anyone.

It's actually very simple no matter how many tools to protect an account Valve gives someone there will always be those who basically give their info away by login in on shady sites and ofc it's never their fault.
