Is 300hz monitor worth for CS2 compared to 240hz?
Hi! so I am planning to upgrade my monitor (currently it's 165 hz) to 240 hz monitor (AOC, Samsung,LG, etc you name it) but then I see a good offer that have the same price as 240hz monitor but it has 300 hz monitor (which is an MSI Monitor)

In the end, I got a dillemma. Will 60 hz/fps give a lot of difference on gameplay/performance? Do I need 120 hz/fps (aka having 360 hz) so i can feel the difference compared to the 240hz?

nah
What is your computer hardware?
If your GPU can handle it sure.
absolutely not, the human eye can see more than 150 hz i think

A screen's Hz rating is only one aspect. Even more important is the panel type, e.g., IPS, OLED, or TN. You should also know your personal preferences in advance. Do you value image quality more, or is a fast response time more important to you? What about resolution?

There's a relatively significant difference between 240 Hz and 360 Hz, but this is less significant if, for example, the 240 Hz display is an OLED display. If competitiveness is your top priority, you should look for monitors with strobing, such as the Benq 2546K or the PG27AQN.

I have another important tip: keep an eye out for what the pros are using. A great website for this is: https://prosettings.net/

Well most pros on prosettings.net are shown using zowie monitor which have more than 360hz.

About the 300hz monitor we're talking about, it's MSI MAG255XF. It uses IPS panels
(p.s. I'm on a tight budget)

If u get 240hz get a 240hz oled as those have really fast response times, almost instant. Id say 240hz oled is better than 360hz Va / Ips monitor. And ofc 360hz oled is faster than all of these.

I really want OLED but, lowest OLED price out there is so darn expensive to my budget. I have less than 250$ for my monitor budget ;-;

That's true! Monitors with strobing are even better than OLEDs, but you're usually limited to 1080p. With the 3060, I'd prioritize VRR anyway, since you don't get a high refresh rate at 1440p. The MSI MAG255XF isn't available in my region, but I see it's a 25-inch 1080p Rapid IPS monitor with 300 Hz. It's generally very solid; you can't go wrong with an MSI. You'll definitely get 300 FPS in Fortnite or Valorant, and maybe in CS:GO if you lower the details enough.
How much does the MSI MAG255XF cost in your region?

I dont think you will benefit at all from that monitor.

The RTX 3060 performs significantly better than I expected, that's perfectly fine :

To sum up, I'd say that if you can get the MSI MAG255XF for under $250, it's probably the best value for money and definitely a solid upgrade over your old monitor. Your old monitor only seems to have a 6-bit panel, which isn't even particularly color accurate. I can't find a better monitor for the money, at least not in my area.
I have had all of the monitors going and the 240/360hz is not noticeable you can tell the difference from 140/240.
My current cpu hits 750fps and my older one was 450fps.
A better cpu is more of a upgrade than a monitor now.

@OP
Just saying to give an example, I do have a 240 Hz OLED and a RTX 3080 and a Ryzen 7 3700X. However, in-game I get only about 160 FPS max, down to about 100 FPS at times with my graphic settings (High on 1440p) and despite excellent glass fiber internet connection. I guess I could tune down the screen res and settings but I like it that way.

Check your FPS first. If you get less than 240 FPS, a higher freq monitor >240 Hz will serve you nothing.
