Playing on FACEIT with Steam Deck?
Hi everyone,

I was wondering how to setup faceit on my steamdeck so i can avoid the casual cheaters in premier when playing. I game from my steam deck and have it docked. I saw this post from 2023 saying you're able to play battlebit remastered on the steam OS with faceit (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/07/faceit-anti-cheat-to-support-linux-steam-deck-with-battlebit-remastered/) however I was wondering how can I install and have faceit on my steamdeck and play cs2 matches

That's awesome you're looking to utilize FaceIt for a cleaner CS2 experience on your Steam Deck! It's truly amazing how Valve keeps pushing the boundaries of what gaming can be, allowing us to enjoy our favorite titles wherever we go.
Keep in mind that while FaceIT is a fantastic tool for finding serious players and combating cheating, remember that Valve is constantly working to improve the integrity of CS2 itself. Their anti-cheat systems are top-notch and dedicated to creating a fair playing field for everyone.

To set up Faceit on your Steam Deck for playing CS2 matches and avoid casual cheaters, follow these steps:

1. Install SteamOS Updates: Ensure your Steam Deck is up to date with the latest version of SteamOS to guarantee compatibility with any new updates, including those related to anti-cheat systems like Faceit.

2. Install a Compatible Linux Distribution (if needed): Steam Deck runs SteamOS, which is based on Linux. While Faceit Anti-Cheat recently started supporting Linux (as mentioned in the article you referred to), it is essential to ensure the necessary dependencies and tools are set up. If Faceit is not fully supported on SteamOS, you may need to install a more widely supported Linux distribution, such as Ubuntu, in a dual-boot setup or by using a custom SteamOS installation.

3. Install Steam’s Desktop Mode:

Switch to Desktop Mode on your Steam Deck.

Open the Discover Store and search for "Proton" if you don't have it enabled already. Proton allows Windows games to run on Linux-based systems, which may be required for Faceit and CS2.

4. Install the Faceit Client:

Download the Faceit client from their official website: https://www.faceit.com.

You may need to use a Windows compatibility layer like Proton to run the client on your Steam Deck.

Follow the Faceit installation guide for Linux or use community-driven methods to set it up.

5. Install CS2 on Steam:

Install Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) via Steam if you haven’t done so yet. You may need to use Proton for compatibility depending on how SteamOS handles CS2 on the Steam Deck.

If required, configure Proton settings for CS2 through Steam’s Properties window under "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool."

6. Configure Faceit Anti-Cheat:

Once the Faceit client is installed, launch it and follow their specific instructions for installing and enabling the anti-cheat system.

Make sure your Faceit account is linked properly and follow any setup prompts to enable anti-cheat before entering CS2 matches.

7. Test the Setup:

Before joining a competitive match, test by playing a casual game or doing a quick anti-cheat check in Faceit.

Ensure your system is running smoothly, with Faceit anti-cheat and Proton working properly for both CS2 and the anti-cheat client.
