yeah, probably. I typically am pretty decent at guessing the amount of dmg I've done, and it was never a thing in comp, but for newer players, in the casual gamemodes, they'll get an idea of how much dmg each weapon does with and without armor, and they'll be more aware of the blind spots they're dying to, which I think is a good thing
I would probably keep it enabled if I felt like playing casual gamemode, just to see if I just got timing'd, didn't fully clear the angle and enemy was barely visible, or other niche uses for it.
In a comp when dead I would comm to my teammates approximate dmg done. It doesn't tell the player this if dead in comp, pretty sure. Maybe after the player is dead, but I am estimating dmg based on where I hit them before the fact

Doesnt matter if they cant tell it instantly, that just means they really have to learn how much damage they approximately did and if that matches the damage shown after the round end.
