[solved][Linux] failed to initialize vulkan unable to start game [Ubuntu/Kubuntu24.10]

"Please make sure your driver and gpu support vulkan 1.2"

This is the error message when trying to start cs2.

vulkaninfo, vkmark and vkcube is working fine and other games also seem to work.

My specs: GTX 1650 Super 4GB with newest nvidia driver 550.142, KDE Plasma 6.1.5, X Server 1.21.1.13. This is a fresh setup, with an older Ubuntu and older graphics card I was able to start the game 1 year ago.

update: I removed the nvidia driver which I installed via nvidia homepage and instead installed them via "sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall" which gave me the 560 version + the 32bit libraries.

Now everything works fine and I can play CS2 :)

To uninstall the nvidia drivers following helped me:
sudo telninit 3
CTRL+ALT+F2
sudo nvidia-uninstall
sudo apt purge *550*
sudo shutdown -r -f now

Достаточно просто обновить драйвера, удалять ничего не нужно:
$ sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
$ systemctl reboot
Скорее всего из-под коробки не устанавливаются самые свежие дрова, а устанавливается какая-нибудь самая стабильная версия. Поэтому проблема решается банальным обновлением драйверов и перезагрузкой.
