The Current State of CS2: Cheating and Community Concerns
Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing CS2 for a while now, and I wanted to share some thoughts on the state of the game, particularly regarding the high level of cheaters and the overall health of the community.

First off, I’m not new to the series—I've been playing CS for years, and I know that with any competitive shooter, there will always be some bad apples. However, the amount of cheating I’ve been encountering lately in CS2 feels overwhelming. It’s not just the occasional cheater here and there; it’s becoming a consistent problem that impacts gameplay in nearly every match. Whether it’s wall hacks, aimbots, or spinbots, the experience is really being tarnished.

I know Valve has anti-cheat measures in place, but the current state makes me wonder how effective they really are. It's frustrating to put in the effort and lose to someone clearly using cheats, especially when it’s so blatant. The worst part is that it feels like many of these cheaters are getting away with it, as reports and player feedback don't seem to result in any immediate action.

On top of that, I’ve noticed a shift in the community. Many players are getting fed up, and it’s causing more toxicity and frustration. It's hard to enjoy the game when people are leaving mid-match or getting aggressive in chat due to the constant cheater problem. It feels like the community's spirit is deteriorating, and it’s taking a toll on the overall experience.

I get that the devs are probably "working hard" to combat this issue, but at this point, it's hard to stay hopeful when it feels like the problem is getting worse rather than better. What do you all think? Have you been encountering more cheaters than usual, or is it just me? What can we as a community do to help improve the situation? What about overwatch ?

Would love to hear your thoughts, and if anyone has found any effective ways to deal with cheaters, please share!

Thanks !

It's simply not possible for the user to "deal" with cheaters, other than if they're on your team, make them lose, make them stay as long as possible, like keeping a scam caller on the phone so they can't talk to another person, keep the cheater in your game and guarantee a loss and waste their time to help the community. Regardless however, it's the company's responsibility, to which they're negligent. The TF2 community had cheating/botting for such a long period, and something only happened when an even bigger fuss was made by the community to reach mainstream again, to which Valve decided to do something about it. Lots speculate that Valve just paid a guy/company to just go over cheaters and manually ban, as a band-aid, instead of what Valve claims was in the works, so even so, the future is unknown.

The community isn't toxic due to cheaters, but due to toxic masculinity and the freedom of being behind the screen. You can have a game overrun by cheaters without toxic people, but generally everyone who experiences a cheater will be demoralized.

I hope that Valve eventually decides to spend some money to solve this problem, because sadly that is as simple as it is, for both the cheating problem and the moderation issue. Their own internal justification is likely that they're still working on the main features of the game and nobody wants to shift focus to anti cheat, or the anti cheat team don't want to release anything in an unfinished state, in fear their work may be bypassed easily.

Good luck everyone
HORRIBLE CS2 , season 2 its actually worst !!
There is only one thing Valve could do to fix this game:

Delete this game from this planet forever and bring back CS:GO.

There is nothing they can do, all shooter games have the same issue and nobody can stop it.

Are you sure?
TBH I sincerely do not think there is an active anti-cheat, more so a feature that groups similar players (like cheaters with cheaters or idiots with idiots) this makes Valve earn way more $$$.

Working hard? They are creating skins!!! That is more recreational than anything.

It's a shame and a disgrace Valve are allowed to destroy a unique game like that.

Riot and Apex Legends have staff that manually ban the most obvious cheaters. Valve don't, not even once in a while.

That would be a good step forward.

state of the game ?

seems like 50% of the player base fell for the cheat meme and installed repacked botnet cryptomining software that is disguised as a cheat with a new GUI menu that was thrown together in 5 minutes.

most of the cheaters will never know why their hardware runs so poorly.
they will never understand why their 1% lows are so super bad when they play cs2.

they never understand that uninstalling the cheat is not enough.
that you have to wipe your whole system and install windows fresh.

there are people that are mining cryptocurrency for the cheat mafia for like over 10 years now im not even kidding.
It’s so cooked

You can’t escape cheaters even on faceit with a verified account xdd
