Dont...
If you play many times, yes, you need luck also
Hmmm ok so some activity per week is required

it's a gamble unless you go for cases, which will break you even (free steam points i guess)

Yes, if you play regularly, it pays for itself over a couple months of playing, depending on what you get as drops.

Prime costs 14,29€
One drop (case + skin) is currently worth about 0,50€ on average, so after about 7-8 months it should pay for itself and after that the drops are free money.

You actually don't have to play that much. I think most people don't realize how drops work:
- You get a single drop once every week, when you fill your XP rank (not to be confused with matchmaking rank)
- Drops reset every Tuesday UTC at midnight, so you can usually get a new drop on Wednesdays
- You get rank XP in casual modes for the amount of kills you get
- In ranked you get XP for the amount of rounds you win
- It takes only about 3-4 ranked games to increase you XP rank by one level
- The more XP rank you get the slower you rank it up, but this cools off after a while, so basically you get relatively more XP for playing less

To give you an example of how it works: You can play on Monday and go up one XP rank and get a drop. Then it resets Tuesday at midnight and on Wednesday you play more, level up XP rank again and get another drop.
Then you are basically done with drops for the week and can stop playing, until the next Wednesday.

If you want to optimize your playtime for farming skins, you stop playing just before you would increase your XP level. Then you play one game on the next Wednesday and instantly get your drop.
If you want to play more and not waste XP, you you can get an additional account. I find it's still reasonable to farm items on 3-4 accounts, if you play every day. It doesn't make sense to have more than that for item farming, as it just becomes impossible to play that much.

Thanks yeah back then it was like first drop was reasonable amount 5-6 hour second drop per week was luck , now with XP it can be faster with any game mode but no afking.

So I should do 1,8-9 levels per week? That sounds quite reasonable , I have second account in 2020 I almost got the required 10 lvl there but I was too late cuz of paid prime was implemented

Playing on two accounts totally works in a reasonable amount of time. So for two accounts you only need about 6-10 ranked games a week (depending on wins or losses) to get your drops. It takes less time than it used to for getting cases by playing, but idling doesn't work anymore which is a nice change to prevent deflation of case prices and rewarding those who actually play. It's also nice how winning now affects your speed to get drops.

This is about getting money from it. You give it some and then get more back, if you actually play (just don't gamble by opening cases). I've paid for my entire inventory with cases over the years, so there's that...

Okay, and how exactly all of this is related to original question about battle pass? xD

Dont spend any money on CS2, to many cheaters. Also it could affect the skin value in market in long-term if they dont find a solution to this HUGE issue. Because an unplayable game usually just goes dead and bankrupt
