VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) Ban / Cooldown Period

Hello everyone,

Recently, while playing Counter-Strike 2, I received a 7-day competitive cooldown (ban) on my account. The strange and frustrating part is that I did not use any cheats, harm my teammates, or engage in any toxic behavior. I was playing completely fairly and legitimately.

I submitted a support ticket to Steam explaining the situation, but as you may know, they generally state that they cannot intervene in penalties issued by automated systems.

There is no third-party software or illegal tool—nothing that could be considered a cheat—on my computer. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation recently, or experienced a "false ban" due to an error in the system?

What do you think could have caused this?

• Could system optimization/antivirus programs running in the background, or macro software for a mouse/keyboard, trigger such a penalty?

• Is it possible for the system to automatically issue a 7-day ban solely because of a series of false (unjustified) reports filed by opponents?

If anyone has experienced something like this before and managed to get the penalty removed or identified the root cause, could you please share your experience?

Yeah, I also got a 31-day ban from the game; my score was 8-6.Even though there was cheating on the opposing team, I was the one who got banned. I’ve filed a complaint, but it’s still pending; my ban is set to be lifted on November 14th.

Hey friend, the same thing is happening to me. I got a 7-day ban, even though I didn’t do anything, and now I’ve received another one—this time for 31 days. I’m so frustrated with this update CS rolled out; people are getting banned unfairly.

I think something about using snipers too often trigger VAC, even if you aren't cheating right now. Unfortunately most people that haven't received a false-positive think everyone is lying about these
