VACNet is becoming a problem for legitimate players – My experience with an unjustified 7-day ban
I want to share my recent experience with VACNet because I genuinely believe something needs to change.

A few days ago, I received a 7-day global cooldown in CS2 because VAC flagged my gameplay as irregular.

The problem? I was playing legitimately. I have never used cheats, scripts, macros or any third-party software to gain an unfair advantage.

It was a completely normal competitive match. I actually started poorly, but gradually improved alongside my team. We were fighting back and were getting close to turning the game around. I was the second player with the most kills on my team, while another player had around 10 more kills than me.

And then, out of nowhere, I received a 7-day suspension.

What makes this even more frustrating is that this isn't the first time I've experienced something suspicious with VAC. On a previous occasion, my entire team received 24-hour suspensions during a competitive match, apparently due to a detection issue.

I recently purchased Prime because I enjoy CS2 and wanted to invest more time in the game. Honestly, I'm starting to regret that purchase.

How are legitimate players supposed to enjoy a competitive game when they have to worry about being falsely flagged and banned for an entire week?

What frustrates me the most is the apparent imbalance: legitimate players report receiving suspicious bans, while actual cheaters continue to appear in competitive matches.

I understand that detecting cheaters is difficult, and I absolutely support efforts to keep the game fair. But what is the point of an anti-cheat system if legitimate players end up paying the price for its mistakes?

I've already submitted feedback to Valve, and they confirmed that it would be forwarded to the Counter-Strike team. However, there is no individual response or explanation.

I don't expect special treatment. I simply want a reliable anti-cheat system, transparency about why players are being suspended, and a proper way to challenge potentially incorrect detections.

Counter-Strike has been around for years and has a passionate community. Players invest their time and money into this game. We deserve better than unexplained suspensions that can ruin an entire week's gaming experience.

Has anyone else experienced something similar recently? Have you received a 7-day VACNet cooldown despite playing legitimately?

I would genuinely like to hear other people's experiences because I don't think this issue should be ignored.

I literally just got a 24 hour cooldown as a bottom frag, I started out 0 and 5 (17k premier trying to get plants). Then eventually came back with many sniper shots, I dont know if it was the jump up to mirage window guy I headshotted, or the double awp flick clutch to win the game, but from your story it most likely sounds like a false flag for toggling/ragehacking. So frusturating I play poorly, fight back to win, and still get banned.
I received a 1-week ban even though I only just started cheating, and they aren't responding to my support tickets.

I'm not sure what having a 6-year-old account or recently buying my first game has to do with whether I cheated or not. I bought CS2 and Prime because I wanted to play the game. I haven't used cheats, scripts, macros or anything that gives me an unfair advantage. I'm simply sharing what happened and asking why legitimate players can get flagged like this. If you have something constructive to say, I'm listening.

I've made my profile public now, so you can check it yourself. I've got nothing to hide. I've also already contacted Steam Support regarding the cooldown. I'm simply trying to raise awareness about what I believe is an unfair ban on a legitimate player.

Good for you, but your personal experience doesn't prove the system is flawless. Just because you've never been falsely flagged doesn't mean it can't happen to someone else. I'm not saying VAC should be removed. I'm saying legitimate players shouldn't have to accept a 7-day ban without a clear explanation or a proper way to challenge it.

btw i made it 2012 and have 6k hours, never had any issue, nice one, u cant fool anyone bot

My profile is public now, so feel free to check it. I have nothing to hide. But having a newer account or fewer hours doesn't make someone a cheater. I've already explained what happened and contacted Steam Support. If you have actual evidence that I cheated, feel free to share it instead of making assumptions.

This is exactly why I'm questioning the system. My match followed a similar pattern: I started off poorly, gradually improved and started making better plays, and ended up getting a 7-day cooldown. I didn't toggle anything or use cheats whatsoever. It's frustrating that simply having a good comeback or hitting some impressive shots can apparently lead to situations like this. Hopefully Valve actually looks into these cases, because legitimate players shouldn't have to worry about being punished for improving during a match.

It has alot to do with it tbh.

Also using lazing it with chat gpt isnt helping either. Nobody here can help you its an user only forum, we can only see you fit in the category of shady accounts.
So your the one being unconstructive by making this thread.

Simply sharing you say ..and so did I .

I'm in exactly the same situation. I also received a 7-day cooldown despite never having cheated. It's frustrating to see other legitimate players reporting similar experiences. Valve needs to take these reports seriously and investigate whether VACNet is incorrectly flagging players. Nobody should have to worry about getting banned simply for having a good match or improving during a game. If this keeps happening, I agree that many legitimate players will eventually lose confidence in the game.
And new players like yourself shouldnt be playing comp to begin with.
Cry is free. I am legit player and none of the problems you mentioned come to my road. Maybe stop cheating.
