Windows 8.1 - CS:GO Freezing and Sound Loop [FIXED]
Seemed to be an issue for someone in March of last year, but now it seems to be affecting a lot of Windows 8.1 users with Nvidia drivers. After the update yesterday I've been having the game lock up on me. I'm starting a new thread since the last one has been considered "Solved".

I just started getting this issue as well while playing competitive match making last night. Every 10-20 minutes the game freezes and the sound begins looping, the only way to close the game is by hitting "end task" on the task manager. Steam crashes as well. This makes playing competitive impossible because I'm missing 2-3 rounds every match.

So far to troubleshoot I've updated my video drivers to the newest beta drivers (went from 337.50 to 337.81) and still no luck. I also updated my Realtek audio drivers just in case. The problem doesn't seem to be audio related because it has happened while using my speakers (motherboard audio) and headphones (usb audio). I even reinstalled CS:GO and the problem still persists. I've even tried using various video options with no success (disabling fxaa, ect).

I've been playing other games (Diablo 3, Titanfall, Wildstar) with no issues, so the problem seems to be related only to CS:GO.

My PC specs:

Intel I7-3820
Nvidia GTX 670 2GB (337.81 driver)
Gigabyte X79-UD3
Kingston DDR3 32GB (4x8GB)
Samsung 840 SSD 250GB (Steam and CS:GO Install Drive)
Windows 8.1

Please chime in if this issue is affecting you as well. Be sure to list your OS, Driver, and PC specs.

UPDATE: Apparantly uninstalling GeForce Experience and running Steam as an administrator might fix the issue. I haven't tested this out myself but will try later today.

Same issues here.
Running Windows 8.1 with update 1.
I'm pretty sure the one thing that fixed it for me was uninstalling Nvidia Geforce Experience.

Tried to play it and it works fine for like 2 days and after that this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ problem happen to me again... When i tried to end task my mouse cursor does not showed up...
I had same probs and originally posted. mines now fixed and u'd be surprised, but my method was simple. there was no deleting or anything. all i did was simply right click on cs:go in my games library, the i wen properties, local files, and then verify integrity of game cache. it is very simple and works like a pro all the time. good luck. :borderlands2:

when you open task manager, hit tab, use the arrow keys to navigate to counter strike and then hit the delete key
Just commenting that most issues work for a hour or so then go back to 10-20min interval crashes.
My game is crashing with the sound loop just like the others. Steam closes with no errors and I have to close CS via task manager (lucky I have a second screen as it cannot be seen on the one the game runs on) before reloading and rejoining the match. Happens 4-5 times in match making. Usually takes about 20 minutes but then fails much sooner the second third etc times.

Have tried everything like updating all drivers, uninstalling GeForce Experience, running in admin modes etc. I deleted CS and redownloaded. Deleted Steam and redownloaded. Cleared Steam after Steam Support suggested me to. I have lost ranks and had cooldowns also. Surely in it's almost 5th day this warrants some sort of response from Valve. This is beyond a joke.

This isn't just limited to Windows 8/8.1 or nVidia people. It is obviously not mine/our systems but some bug from the latest patch.
