Windows 8.1 - CS:GO Freezing and Sound Loop [FIXED]

Seemed to be an issue for someone in March of last year, but now it seems to be affecting a lot of Windows 8.1 users with Nvidia drivers. After the update yesterday I've been having the game lock up on me. I'm starting a new thread since the last one has been considered "Solved".

I just started getting this issue as well while playing competitive match making last night. Every 10-20 minutes the game freezes and the sound begins looping, the only way to close the game is by hitting "end task" on the task manager. Steam crashes as well. This makes playing competitive impossible because I'm missing 2-3 rounds every match.

So far to troubleshoot I've updated my video drivers to the newest beta drivers (went from 337.50 to 337.81) and still no luck. I also updated my Realtek audio drivers just in case. The problem doesn't seem to be audio related because it has happened while using my speakers (motherboard audio) and headphones (usb audio). I even reinstalled CS:GO and the problem still persists. I've even tried using various video options with no success (disabling fxaa, ect).

I've been playing other games (Diablo 3, Titanfall, Wildstar) with no issues, so the problem seems to be related only to CS:GO.

Intel I7-3820
Nvidia GTX 670 2GB (337.81 driver)
Gigabyte X79-UD3
Kingston DDR3 32GB (4x8GB)
Samsung 840 SSD 250GB (Steam and CS:GO Install Drive)
Windows 8.1

UPDATE: Apparantly uninstalling GeForce Experience and running Steam as an administrator might fix the issue. I haven't tested this out myself but will try later today.

is there not one person working @ valve at this moment ? wish there was a big CS GO lan event this weekend with nvidia cards and windows 8.1 and a live twitch stream when everyone crashes

well, Nvidia Experience, when I unisntalled it, required that I close Steam first, so it must interact with Steam in some way, I'm guessing. It's possible that could be the root cause for some Nvidia players.

Been playing for over half an hour and I don't have any crashes, but again they are random crashes so yeah. Best try your luck with any one of these solutions until a more permanent solution is found/made.

Crap! That stinks.

Well, I might as well just expect to crash eventually today, and go from there I suppose.

GREAT NEWS, I DECIDED TO PLAY CSS ON MY OTHER STEAM ACCOUNT AND I HAD THE SAME ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CRASH. Question... Could this really be an issue with the CSGO patch, or a problem with Steam itself?
P.S. Dota 2 also seems to have this problem, guessing something is wrong with the games mainly using the Source engine.

Well if you think about it playing online requires Steam in order to play, and it seems not to crash during offline mode so it could mainly be a problem with Steam itself.

Seems that lowering the video setting would lessen the crashes, but still occasionally crashes

So I have submitted a support ticket after this problem started on the 14th. First I posted in the forums. The forum post that started for this problem the first day was deleted by someone who was moderating the forums. I was subscribed to that forum post and there wasn't anything in it that violated their rules.

So after having it deleted I created my support ticket. After 3 days of waiting for a response, I got a form type referral to the forums which they don't consistently respond to. So now I'm back here. CS:GO is crashing every match to every other match, pretty much around 6-10 rounds of play. On my computer it just freezes. I have to have task manager open on my right monitor to be able to end the task.

I have over a thousand dollars invested in just the steam marketplace, so it's really sad that Gabe Newell and friends don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about their customers. I'd say they are worse than EA because EA at least communicates. I'm not saving money being on Steam if I can't even play the games I buy. This is bulls**t!
