Microphone is bad ingame
Hi, When I talk ingame I keep getting complaints from people that my microphone is all distorted, But its fine for everything else including steam chat, TS3, Mumble etc.

The problem is only ingame, I've been told it sounds like it's maxed to the limit and sounds like the microphone is in my mouth all breaking up etc (Robotic like), I've changed the volume settings ingame and the launch options but this only changes the volume not the problem, Anyone got any ideas?

it might be that the mic is in use in multiple locations at once and your sound card cant handle that

My microphone is a Samson meteor which is USB so it's not going through the soundcard

In Windows the microphone you want to use has to be set as Default Device AND Default Communication Device... as stupid as that sounds.

Control Panel/Sound/Recording
Highlight your main microphone
Click the Arrow beside the "Set Default" button
Make sure both options are selected.

If it still isn't working proparly try do the following: Right click the blank area and make sure that all the disconnected and disabled devices are showing, then plug in your Mic and try to set it as default.

Or listen to your own mic: Go the the microphone settings in windows and check off "listen to this device". try speaking and see what you sound like, also try raising your voice and see how it sounds, sometimes mic's will start cracking up in certain situations.

One thing I found that really helps is anytime my mic stops working and all the Windows dialog crap says it working plus the Steam voice check thing. Open the console and do this:
voice_enable 0
voice_enable 1

Also done this, I listen to my microphone it sounds good, It's also good on TS3 + Mumble + Steam chat, The problem lays with CS GO somewhere.

No, But I fixed it with a command in the launch options: -voice_mixer_volume 0.10

I have the same issue after uptime longer than few days. My mic is also USB one, it works fine with other software. Teamspeak/mumble works flawlesly but with Steam it just keeps breaking.

Even if I'm testing my mic through the settings, so that's something up with the Steam client.

Sorry for bumping up old thread, but Google landed me here.

That command didn't work for me. still the same. the voice in game is low and like a voice changer with wide voice. this only happened when i have upgraded my windows from 7 to 10. i had to download the Razer Synapse to fix the in game sound. but the Mic couldn't do anything.
