Nope. your human ears hear at around 15hz-20khz this means the footsteps are perfect to the distance from you and the source they are generated. This means the further you are away the harder it will be to hear.

For headsets, gaming headsets and headsets with a 20hz-22khz range are typically a little bassy and thus can mess up the footsteps (footsteps are not bass, they mid and high frequencies)

I meant like how you can have a mic slider and a seperate music slider, like a console command

As far as i know, there is no command to increase footstep decible levels sa this would give you and unbalanced advantage. to hear footsteps better you may need ab etter sound card, as onboard is bad at reproducting the reach detail and leaving things silenced a little.

I can hear footsteps with my current cheapo sound card at about 200-300ft away and pinpoint exactly how far they are from me. With my onboard motherboard audio the same task i cannot accomplish.

You used to be able to do it for 1.6 and CS:S by just using a wave editor to make the sounds louder or quieter.

There used to be a way to do it in CSGO, but now you will get kicked because of sv_pure 1.

All you had to do was edit the game_sounds_weapons text file and decrease the sound level of gunfire, so that everything else could be made louder without gunfire making you go deaf. It doesn't work anymore though.

Making footsteps louder isn't a good idea though because it makes it harder to tell where the footsteps are coming from. Reducing the sound level of gunfire would work best if it was allowed.

Do I just copy and paste this in the console?

These can help

// AUDIO dsp_enhance_stereo "0" // unknown? snd_mixahead "0.05" // undocumented snd_headphone_pan_exponent "2" // Specifies the exponent for the pan xfade from phone to phone if the 'exp' pan law is being used snd_musicvolume "0" // Overall music volume soundscape_flush "1" // Flushes the server & client side soundscapes sv_deadtalk "1" // Dead players can speak (voice, text) to the living volume "1" // ADJUSTABLE VOLUME PAGE UP(+)/PAGE DOWN(-) bind "pgup" "incrementvar volume 0 1 0.1" bind "pgdn" "incrementvar volume 0 1 -0.1"

Put these in an autoexec.cfg

Now you can easily tweak the sound volume to find the best level

Steelseries 5h2 were specifically made to distinguish the sounds of flash / HE bounces and footsteps for CS 1.6.
Was a cancerous experience in any other game though and I am not sure if it works in CS:GO.

snd_headphone_pan_exponent 2.0;snd_front_headphone_position 45.0 ;snd_rear_headphone_position 135.0 ;snd_setmixer PlayerFootsteps vol 0.1; snd_setmixer GlobalFootsteps vol 1.3 ; snd_setmixer Ambient vol 0.0
You need to Enable Cheats in a offline match for these to work, it works kind of well to me so try it

fps_max "0" looks more like no fps limitation
but anyways, it's useless to have fps than your monitor frequency

That fps_max 0 looks dodgy...
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ fps_max 0 means it allows infinite fps

It's not. Your input is still being processed faster.

Yes there is a way. Use in ears and ext. Mic and adjust the Equalizer from the cs go sound to decrease most of the spectrum but increase the area where footsteps are. There is a nice youtube tutorial where guys explain it in the via hd audiodeck.

You can use every EQ able headsets but footsteps are nowhere so hard and sharp as in inears.

I have a casual razer headset for everything but when i play MM i use inears and a EQ preset. The difference is huge.

No matter how good your cfg ist without the preset i hear 50% less.

With the preset and inears i can hear a ct in mirage coming out palace to t spawn and going over t spawn... and i am standing in front (ct side) the mid box where the Ts hide from the awp.
He is running and i could even place my crosshair on him and follow. Looks 100% like wallhack for a OW with bad sounds. So i dont do it online.

I have discussed on many threads about this people just dont listen or think they know it better (all false, buy sennheiser blablabla)
i can approve this, i've been using in ears recently since my headset broke. Won more games since then.

I have personally gone to exploring how to make footsteps available to hear across the map. From what I have found: copy paste this in console:
-
sv_cheats 1;snd_setmixer PlayerFootsteps vol 0.1;snd_setmixer GlobalFootsteps vol 10; snd_setmixer Ambient vol 0.00;snd_setmixer Dialog vol 0.1;snd_setmixer Weapons vol 0.1
-
Even though these commands require sv_cheats 1 to be executed correctly, due to a glitch in the CSGO system, it doesn't write over cvars that require sv_cheats 1 in a server with sv_cheats 0. So this means that you will be able to use this in any match. The only command that doesn't work is snd_setmixer Ambient vol 0.00, which is kinda disappointing. Hope this helped.
