how many games does it take to rank up?
i just dont understand this game.... there have been times where i win 3 in a row and rank up, times where i win 4 in a row and rank up, but this past week has been rediculous and makes no sense cause i ranked up yesterday after winning 8 games in a row, it took me 8 wins in a row to rank up...

and today ive won 5 games in a row and still have not ranked up, i was top fragger 4 out of the 5 games too and still nothing.. so how exactly does this ranking ♥♥♥♥ work?

result of this :D under 50 comp games played and DMG
I was holding at Gold Nova Master for about a month and doing really well. Then I tried to play one of the missions. Seven losses and I ranked down to Silver Elite Master.
* Win as many rounds as possible (you can technicaly rank up on a 14-16 game loss).
* Get MVPs
* Play against higher ranked players (if you win against them then you should be higher ranked then them... is the theory...)

Thats basically it...
i hope there will be some changes and we will know how win is needable... :D
For me, the main problem is downranking in crappy games.

IMO, if someone leaves your team and you lose, you shouldn't rank down unless the person that left was in your lobby. (That would prevent people from abusing the system to prevent ranking down). Also, if people from both teams report the server for bad performance, you shouldn't rank down. Six of the seven games that ranked me down were games where two or more people left my team or where the server had stupidly high pings.

It depends on your current rank.
Interesting
I've had 62 wins in Silver 2. I was placed there and have stayed there since, not going up nor down. As of right now, I am on a 6 game winning streak. I've had a lot of winning streaks, even winning 8 in a row, and still haven't ranked up! I'm either top or second top fragging every game. I am not a person who cares about ranking but playing against bad players is getting old.
it only takes 1. CSGO uses the elo ranking system.
feel free to google or wiki "elo ranking system"

depends on your hidden mmr/elo thing, but pairing againest higher rank opponent does rank up faster, try getting a few higher ranked friends, and play so you get paired with higher ranked opponents, get more mvps in those games helps too.

How you do in each individual game does not seem to matter much. Counter-Strike gives the winning team and the winning players points as they play more matches. When you lose a match, you lose points. The amount of points gained/lost varies according to what rank you are, and what rank your enemies were. For example, if you are Silver IV, and you win against a Silver I, you will still gain points, but not as much. But if you are Silver JUANNNN and you win against a Silver IV, you will gain a lot more points than you would if you were Silver IV like him/her. And as many people have already stated, the higher your rank is, the longer it takes for you to rank up. This is why carrying works, even though I don't support it. If a low level player wishes to rank up quickly (I.E. Silver III), a group of players in, let's say Gold Nova II can take the Silver player with them in a party, and win some matches. As the game expects the Silver player to lose, and his team to lose as well, you will receive more points, similar to gambling odds if you win. But if you lose, you will not be penalized as severely. The system will take away points as if you lost if you
A. Abandon
B. get Kicked
C. Don't reconnect in time,
Often resulting in a loss of rank for higher players.
To recap, if you wish to gain rank quickly, get some more training offline or in deathmatch or even casual. Then join a lobby with friends with higher rank, and you will rank up quickly. Remember, if you get carried, you're likely to lose that rank as quickly as you got it by not having sufficient skill to hold your own in that skill level.
This is why you see Silvers with hundreds of wins, and MGEs with only 80 or so.
I hope this helped everyone who needed the info.
Thanks for reading, and happy bomb defusing all.
I have 138 wins or something like that and am still silver 2. I have won 7 games in a row before or 6 (drew the 7th/8th) and still haven't ranked up.
