All the pros from 1.6 who didnt retire play GO now, so that's not true. :)
The skillcap in CS:GO is a bit low in my opinion, a lot of spray and praying. In 1.6 you'd see more single-tap bursting with actual aiming for the face. The maps in CS:GO have far more clutter and pointless things sitting around for appearances that are unnecessary. In my opinion, CS:GO is more "noob friendly" due to how easy it is to control a majority of the weapons and easily obtain kills. The match making system in CS:GO is the main feature I prefer over 1.6. 1.6 didn't have any built-in match making queues - you had to manually go in IRC, find ringers, find a scrim, have a private server + ventrilo, and then you'd be able to play a 5v5 (this whole process of finding a scrim/ringers could take a hour or more, and in morning hours or sometimes during the day, you wouldn't find a single scrim).
Overall, although I'm a fan of spam spots, actual aiming, far better movement etc in 1.6, I prefer CS:GO due to the features set alone.
If you'd mentioned 1.1 instead of 1.6, I'd say 1.1, but as I'm not a typical puristic nostalgic 1.6 f4g3t, I gotta say CS:GO because it's finally a change into the series and I enjoy it a lot more than both Source and 1.6.
CSGO reskined TF2? do explain
