Sensitivity change when changing from 16:9 to 4:3
i recently changed my csgo resolution from 16:9 to 4:3 stretched. now we all know that fov changes with aspect ratio, and that sensitivity depends on fov. i want the same sensitivity i had when i used to play on 16:9 when i play on 4:3. can someone tell me what is the fov when running the game in 4:3??

ive read many forums about fov help. many say that 16:9 is 90 fov while the rest say that it is 106 fov. personally when i checked in game using the fov_csgo_debug command i found that both 16:9 and 4:3's fov remains the same when the value is changed from 0 to 90... i donno which is true and who to listen to :(

The sensitivity doesn't change, though.
If you do a 360 at 16:9, you'll do a 360 at 4:3 as well.

Changing the horizontal sens value will probably just mess up your aim and muscle memory.

Why would you go from 16:9 to stretched? 16:9 has the best FoV and stretched isn't supposed to exist, thus ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your sens. Play black bars and you'll see that your sens is fine.

The sens doesnt change, however your horizontal sens will be off.

m_yaw 0.0165

This will give you the exact same feeling you had on 16:9

default is m_yaw 0.022

btw, fov doesnt matter at all....

Edit: Plz read comment #16 before making a decision.

Its the horizontal sens. English is not my native language and this topic is a little bit complicated.

If you move your mouse ( on mouse pad, not on screen ) 1 inch up, then right, down and left ( a square ) you should end up in the exact same spot if you have a proper set up.

That doesnt work anymore because you have stretched your picture horizontal. Changing your horizontal sens from 0.022 to 0.0165 restores that behavior, making horizontal and vertical movement equal again.

Hope this is understandable.

Cool, thought since this is an old topic and it comes up from time to time I would like to add something. Im not happy with one of explenations I gave above.

This is wrong.

The sensitivity doesnt actually change when switching from 16:9 to 4:3 stretched.
Lets say if you move your mouse 1 inch it will move 1 inch on screen. This remains the same vertically when you switch, but the horizontal movement will be bigger than 1 inch because the image is bigger.

If you aim at the left of a door frame and want to move to the right you need to make the exact same movement on a stretched resolution, but since the image is stretched the distance is larger which means the same mouse movement now moves you crosshair a larger distance on your screen and that is why it feels off but it actually is the same sense you are used to.

If this bugs you too much you can use the command m_yaw 0.0165, but now you are activly chaning your sens which means you have to relearn muscle memory to a degree.
It is generally not recommended to do that.

The square represents mouse movement. The square has turned into a rectangle, however the it is the same movement as before, you end up in the same spots but the horizontal distance has change which is what feels off.

This is what happens when you use m_yaw 0.0165. The square remains a square which is a more consistent behavior as horizontal and vertical are now equal again, but you end up in different spots with the same movement as you have changed the sensitivity and have to relearnd a bit. I guess its up to preference.

I hope this is a more clear explenation so you can make a decision that works for you. Its very difficult to discribe this with just text, especially when my english is a bit limited.
