Can you open cases for free?

Hi! I'm new to the game and I noticed you can get cases after a game, but it seems you still need to buy keys for them to open. Is there a way to get the keys for free as well, or do you need to pay for those?

Well, if you are new. Cases are where you can get some extremely rare skims and knives and stuffs for the expense of the key. Cases can be dropped during matches, traded for and bought in game. Keys are bought and traded, but not dropped. Because cases and keys hold such potential, they are not sold free because a bunch of people would get very expensive itaem a for free

The only cases you can open for free are Souvenir cases that drop during Valve Major tournament games.

The other cases need keys and are not worth the money.

Sticker capsules do not require keys.

No, but you can sell skins and cases, if they bring out a new one they can sell for quite a bit and you mght be able to buy a key,

No. This kind of gambling is Valve's money maker. A one-armed bandit indeed.
Look for unboxing simulator or something like that if you want to gamble for free.
