CS:GO FPS DROPS WHEN NEAR A SMOKE
Hi , for few months now I have been getting this very weird issue. My FPS from 300 will drop to even 70 when I am looking directly at a smoke. I believe it has something to do with the texture fillrate , but I am sure it's not a problem with my system . When i use the AWP and zoom in the smoke , it will drop to 70. When I just look at it with any other weapon , it will usually drop at around 160-200. This issue is very common from what I have seen in forums and I haven't been able to find any fix. I believe after the One Way Smoke patch , Valve made the smokes much heavier on the GPU , since I asked some friends to check out how it would perform for them too. They dropped a smoke in front of them and looked into it , they didnt get any FPS drops , stable 300 , but actually their GPU usage raised from 60% to 95! I am writing this in hope of a Valve developer seeing this and do something about it , I can't focus on the game while looking at my fps and getting all the stutter! Any feedback is appreciated!

EDIT: Worth noting that my FPS are back up if I enter the smoke and they get lower the closer I get.

Everything on Lowest and stretched 1280x960. My system is not the issue. I played Witcher 3 on High Settings on 30 FPS cap locked with AA on and some of hairworks. It's very good system , I get same problem no matter what settings I use

he's not wrong, if you're having trouble with particle effects on Source there isn't much to do but upgrade

Guys , I am not the only one having this problem. Valve has done something with the optimisation of the engine after the update. The GPU usage goes from 60-95 when lookign at the smoke , this is not normal. It's not my problem , this issue is everywhere , it's their fault.

Try and disable the steam overlay I heard that causes some people problems.

i also heard that but I doubt it's the issue. Doesnt hurt to try though i guess

If it's their fault and not yours then everybody would be having the same problem

A lot of people do. Look up things before you reply next time

I tried whatyou said @Joker97 and the drops seem to have kind of been lower but they still do exist.

Thanks for trying , but I don't think you can do anythign about it. I am sure it has something to do with Valve's engine optimisation. We can try a lot of things and I have looked into it a lot. I just hope a Valve developer sees it.
