FRAPS best settings to record CS:GO
I have been searching for a while now to get the right settings for a good quality video without big fps drops while recording with fraps.

I have a few questions about this:
Which fps should I use to record?
Should i use the Full-size or Half-size?
Is the loop buffer length important? (I have the full version of FRAPS)

I would like to record on a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

You shouldn't use Fraps at all, it's just too old. You should use dxtory or shadowplay. Fraps also looks your FPS which is pretty bad for Counterstrike.
If you really need to use fraps: Use atleast 60 FPS so you can play CS at 60. Maybe go up if you want to have a smoother experience. (might be better if you have a bad pc, I personally think it's stupid.)
Full-size, half-size makes everything ugly :p
Buffer lenght is only for highlights (like the shadowplay feature which allows you to ,,silent'' record and save things while you didn't record.)

All in all: Fraps is ♥♥♥♥. Don't use it. Especially the FPS lock is stupid.
What are your ♥♥♥ specs? Fraps always will drop you about 10-20 fps. And and will lock you as well. Meaning if it's set for 60 it will lock you in increments or 60. So let's say you are hovering at 120 fps. Whenever you drop below 120 fps it will then drop you to 60 fps.

Shadow play is free and much better. Plus works better for windows 8. However you need a nvidia graphics card 600 series or newer.

But computer specs would help.

Loop buffer is nice but it is basically recording all the time. All it does is whatever you set it for, I think increments of 5 seconds up to either a min and a half for 2 min. Then when you record it will add that time. So your recording actually started 10 seconds prior from the time you had fraps record. Or whatever your setting is set to. It's a nice program just drops your fps. And not updated for windows 8. It will work but some futures like screen record won't (unless they finally updated).

Thanks for the help :) I guess that i could go try out Shadow Play

My specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 12GB
System type: 64-bit
Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
Use shadowplay if you have a GTX 770. Waaay better for recording than fraps. Just check some settings online, but your PC should be powerfull enough to record on the highest settings.
Alright thanks!
Shadow Play is very nice indeed, I don't even get fps drops while recording :)

I don't mean the overlay (guess you mean the number in the right/left corner).
I mean the FPS lock, if you record your game at 60 FPS while having 200 ingame fraps will sync the game's fps with fraps recording settings. This just makes the video bigger for no reason if you want to play in 144 for example, it's also useless because youtube can't take more than 60 anyways. This might work for other games but not for counter strike. (kinda like v-sync)

sorry for my english :p

I use Shadowplay too when I have to record stuff, it's perfect.
Try Xsplit Gamecaster. Works great without too much of a hassle.
and now the 3 month old thread is at the top again x) nice

You need premium to get the best out of it, if you really want to use a program use OBS.

no you cant, you could record in 144 FPS if you want to have 120GB files.
