SSE and SSE2 are required now?

I've played cs:go on this pc before many times, and now that i try to check if everything is alright as usual, when I logged in to Steam, it said this:
"Steam will stop supporting your windows version on august 31 2012. To be able to use Steam on this platform, you will have to update your windows version to windows XP Service Pack 2 or Superior"...

... and the OS of this PC is Windows 7....

Also, when I try to open CS:GO it says "SSE and SSE2 are required". Nothing else. I have no idea what this is... any reply will help.

SSE and SSE2 are CPU features. They are pretty old so every modern cpu should support it

This CPU is an intel core2duo 2,53ghz, and as I said, I used to play cs:go on this PC before and never had this problem before

Soudns like you're running Steam or CSGO in XP compatibility mode

I thought about that too but Steam on that PC only works if I set compatibility for Windows 98/Windows Me

^ Why? What version win7 have you got?
The majority of CSGO players, if not all of them have Win7 and it works fine for us.

If I was you i'd look into why it doesn't work rather than just playing it in comp mode.

idk, it's win 7 32 bits, that's all I know. But thanks anyway I will see what I can find

Don't do that. That will cause problems that we cannot fix.

If Steam doesn't run without the compatibility flags set then that is something that we can try to address. First you have to not set the compatibility mode to Windows 98/Windows Me, and Steam and CSGO should then work. If they do not then we can discuss whatever problems you are seeing.

If I turned off compatibility or chose any other, it said that it won't work. But nevermind, I re-installed Steam on that PC and now everything works perfectly. It's fixed now. Thank you for your help c:

can you fix the servers and constant dissconects ?
