Valve removed the stopsound function and the only way to alter sounds is to modify the text file, but doing so on Valve servers will get you auto kicked because of sv_pure 1.
I bought a Asus Xonar Essence STX and use it with Byerdynamic dt-880 600ohm headphones.
So i think for this headphones a good soundcard with amp is needed. Please tell me why you think i know nothing about audio.
turn down your music, and take back your sound card and get a good set of USB headphones. Then play and tell us if you want your sound turned off again. Sound will win you the game in some cases.
maybe its fair, but i hate that helicoptersound too.
its annoying and irritating, the helicopter flies away but the sound stays direct "over" the dropzone a long time.
@headphones:
you need a soundcard with headphone-amp (or another device like USB-FIFO) if youre headphone has a high impedance like 30, 60 or 120 ohm.
no snake-oil.
just high-quality headphones + mic instead of a headset.
And Sennheisers aren't better than Beyerdynamics you moron, they both have their pros and cons, although I can speak from experience that the Beyerdynamic 880's are quality headphones. Andybody who knows ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about audio production knows this. It's all down to preference/how well you know your gear. People mix audio on both brands.
(Not to mention you're a complete waste of space by just mentioning the BRAND of your headphones, rather than the actual model. Do you even know what the 880's are?)
Also LOL at the guy saying to exchange the soundcard for a USB headset.
There's a reason you see everybody in the music industry running headphones through a soundcard rather than using USB headshots. Ffs man. The cringe is hard in this thread.
Nice buy on the 880's man, hope they work out well for you. Closed/open design hybrids are really cool.
The soundcard thing is true to some degree. "Gaming" soundcards are an abomination and are usually worse that your on-board audio. A true soundcard that can handle high-impedance headphones is however a big improvement vs. your on-board.
And real headphones, or "music" headphones, are in many cases leaps and bounds better than "gaming" headsets for gaming. Especially open-back headphones like the dt-880, dt-990 or Sennheiser HD-800 will sound alot more spacious that the cheap ♥♥♥♥ from even the top-tier headsets of Steelseries, Razer etc.
