New type of hacker stealing steam accounts of lower value and selling them for dota items
There's a new hacker who hacks the steam accounts with average priced inventory. This happened to my friend and eventually to me as well. I had around 20$ in steam and my inventory was also well lit with all the skins of cs go for every weapon I had collected. This guy hacked my account and sold all my 5-20$ skins on market on 0.01$. On top of that he used all my steam wallet money to buy multiple dota items of value 0.01$. I don't know if he sold all my cs go skins to himself at lower price or not. Except the highly valuable items he sold all my skins in one go. He stole everything except two or three skins. All those skins and steam wallet were my years of playing cs and collecting it by collecting and selling cases. And yet in mere seconds it was all gone. Yes and I also had 2 factor authentication. Valve does not give ♥♥♥♥ to players like us. Our skin would be less valuable but still it had a lot of value for me and all those years of playing. Valve please fix!!

Perhaps you should take better care of your account.

This can only happen if you fall for a scam, if you use some shady site with steam login. Did you sign up to play as a 5th in some tournament, then never played in it. Shady sights will steal your authentication token, account, and password. When you type in your authentication code to log in, they get that too. Nobody can just pick an account and say yep I'm logging in. Your PC is compromised or you fell for a scam.

I personally add the scammers and try to hit them with their own scam first.

Accepted friend request, said he needed a 5th for a tournament. I told him that's good timing and I needed a 5th and he can sign up on cs.gg. he then replied I'm looking to trade. Told him to F off because he just tried to scam me.

hehe ... Story Time !

i used to troll the "we need another player for our tournament" scammers ALL the time. i've had A LOT, A LOT of those over the years here.

i'd accept their friends request, after they finished bloviating on and onnd on in chat and sending hijack links to me i would tell them i had to go out for a little while and would "vote for their team later on in the day". of course id ghost them for a few days LOL making a scammer hope and wait a few days is a hilarious way to really annoy them.

and then when they asked again, and i finally replied, i would crush their dreams with various versions of this->

"hey, i just got back from the bank, man, had to drop some fat paychecks into my account, stopped for seafood and drinks at a nice restaurant and really enjoyed it all with the family. it's the life YOU WILL NEVER HAVE you filthy little subhuman."

then id block them. or if i was feeling edgy that day i'd leave them on my FL for a week so they'd remember me very well.

it got old doing that after a couple Dozen times.

nowadays it just feels dirty typing even a couple words to a low-life broke worthless scammer on the internet.

I just report and call it a day.
i stop playing games with scammers, like they were my pet hamsters, because the last one was pretending to be a female Ukrainian refugee... fake Instagram stuff, fake sad stories... just awful....

scammers are truly sick degenerate people.
scammers on here work in crews. the ones that operate websites to steal IDs are global. they go hand-in-hand with the ones who operate cheat sites and their forums where they fluff each others egos. they will do anything for money and bragging rights.

it's best you just leave them alone. report them for whatever thats worth. they are never going away, they are legion.

i've got so many sick stories i could write a book. unfortunately.
I hadn't log into any scamming sites or any online tournaments. I am well aware of all the scams and theft that happens in the steam platform. I hadn't even logged into my steam account for 1 week or plus since my motherboard was busted and hadn't opened steam. And the hackers they didn't even take the most valuable items. They used all the money on steam account and sold the skins of average value in cheap price. Some kind of cheap prank that might have satisfied their fetish. I am reporting a very real problem here. I don't know why u guys are insisting on defending valve so much. As if the system they have developed is perfect or something. We all know about VAC and it's doesn't even detect more than half of the hackers. I am posting this to spread awareness since nothing is absolutely safe.

Victim blaming, anyone?

He is the victim of a crime.

OP, I'm sorry. Please understand Valve has a very hands off approach when it comes to criminality on their platform.

There's nothing they will do. If you wanted to, you could make a police report and hope it goes to interpol.
Interpol? LOL

"Hello interpol, somebody trolled me on the internet by getting rid of $20 of video game items from my account after I fell for a phishing scam, I would like you to investigate this please and thank you."

Is this how you see this conversation going?
