How you wanted to sell a skin quickly is killing the market.
Every now and then we all get amazing skins from crates, some of us use them, some keep them for a bit and then sell them, but some get them just to make money and fast. The problem is the last group I mentioned will drop the price tag of a weapon by a decent amount just to sell their skin fast. Thats problem that creates is the next person who unboxes the skin will see the price is where it is from the last problem and go down a dollar or so to sell theirs fast. Not all of us do this though, most are smart enough to check what the avg is and not what its currently listed as. All I'm saying is think for a second before you try and make a quick buck. I understand the price of the skins are set by the players which is an amazing system and capitalism at its finest. I also understand it's a small group of people who do this. Anyway good luck with your next crate and praise Gaben.

Yeah really, especially when it's a rare item or an item that doesn't sell quickly.
The amount of times I've lost trades because some nerd undercuts my knife by like 20 dollars.

No I fully do but I don't think you do. The supply is practically always there and the demand is always there. Which means lowering prices doesnt make sense. When it's like that you keep everything where it's at as to not hurt the market.
So.... you basically explained a concept that has been around not just for csgo, but other steam games such as dota and tf2, for at least a couple of years now.

It's pretty simple supply and demand. Lots of supply (aka opening new skins = new supply) equates to lower prices. High demand, but low supply equates to things like the Crimsen Web ST FN (4 out there in the world atm) which is now worth 8k-12k. (It was 15k back when there was only 2-3).

Edit so I dont have to double post: Dude, of course prices will go down fast. Do you know how many crates and how much junk people get from it? Think of it as this way, only 1% of the CSGO population would even fathom of buying a Candy Apple Mac10 and there's hundreds, if not thousands out there floating in the market.

Even though the demand is always there, the supply GREATLY outweights it.

I'm unsubbing from this. All I wanted to do was get my thoughts out there. My only point now is when the supply and demand are steady, you don't change anything. Unless you're a no good republican.

You sound like those wannabe feminists or sjw who just throws in their ideas and start running after things don't go your way.
I was selling a AWP Snakeskin for $2.90, and I was the NEXT one in que to sell.. Then I see a bunch of the same skins like 4-5 and they listed them at $2.50 - $2.60. Of course my listing gets bumped back.

Now I am wondering the logic of some sellers, because it confuses me. When I go and sell something, it always says (for me anyway) that the item is selling as low as (current low price like I had) $2.90. To me, I'd be like, "cool, I can get at about $2.90. So I have 2 options. Sell at the same price or go down one cent and sell for $2.89. Seem like the thing any normal person would do.

But in no way would I look and say, "Oh, it's starting to sell at $2.90! Well I'd BETTER put it at $2.50 just to make sure.. (and lose about 40 cents doing so)".

I finally sold it for $2.85 after a couple of people tried to nudge ahead of me. And it only took me 2 days.

The point is moot, you mentioned the concept of the free market so yea, you'll get people who want quick cash and the only way to get it, is to sell below market value. I tell my students this, as long as you have buyers, sellers will sell even below market value. How many of us are will to spend $300 for a knife? I thought not!
