Keyboard and mouse for CSGO

Hey guys,

I'm in the market to upgrade my keyboard and mouse, been gaming on the Microsoft Side Winders for a while now and let's be honest, that's a terrible choice for CSGO. I can't configure my DPI which apparently is a big deal in CSGO.

Wanted to gather everyone's opinions on what I should be looking for, I hear mechanical cherry red and black switches are great for CSGO, any board specifically? Mouse and keyboard combo? Any mouse in particular?

I use the Corsair K70 and the Mionix Avior 7000. Had the Zowie FK1 before. Can recommend all of those.

If you're just now venturing into esports competitivley, get a cheap gaming mouse from amazon (a lot of good looking ones go for $10, they work just as well as any other mouse), same thing for keyboards.

If you have money, the best choice is the Corsair k70 or the Razer Black Widow Tournament and a Low DPI Gaming Mouse (Razer Deathadder 2013 or a Steelseries/Cougar mouse).
A VERY important thing on CS GO is the Mechanical Keyboard to strafe and other things.

Razer is pretty garbage as far as keyboards go.

I use a Logitech G502 and Poker II keyboard.

I use reds, blacks are annoying to type with. Browns are good too, you can feel exactly when the key activates.

It's really preference based, however I can make some recommendations. Logitech G502 for the mouse and for the keyboard really anything with PBT keycaps I like MX reds for gaming other people like MX blues. I would not recommend MX blacks as they are very heavy. My keyboard is a Noppoo Choc Mini 84 MX reds it's quite good I would also recommend the smallest keyboard you can get as you want your keyboard to be as close to your mouse as possible (for ergonomic reasons). I use a Razer Blackwidow Chroma and a Razer Deathadder Chroma. It's all preference, so keep researching on what you want to buy.

Some will like Razer, some will hate Razer.
Some will like Logitech, some will hate Logitech.
Some will like Corsair, some will hate Corsair.

I'm using the steelseries 6gv2 and the steelseries kana v2

Keyboard wise I can highly recommend the 6GV2 from steelseries. It doesnt have anything special, no leds, uses MX browns wich are pretty quit but still responsive.

MX browns are similar to MX black's. They are not as 'clicky' as MX blue / red's. Still, far more responsive than any cheap rubber dome keyboard.

It really isnt spectacular or anything, but it is also pretty much the cheapest and best mechanical keyboard out there.


Finding a mouse is a harder task..

Razer Deathadder (the only real viable mouse from razer)

So I would recommend you look at all the mice I listed above and decide what personally would fit you the best. Shape and weight wise..
They are all perfectly fine on a technical perspective.

I just jumped the gun and bought a R.A.T 7 because of the customization and the looks, I know.. I know :P

Waiting for it in the mail, in the meantime.. What are your DPI settings? What's "best" for CSGO and how does it actually work?

I'm also planning on buying the Corsair K70 RGB with Cherry Red switches, plus the textured WASD, 1-6 keys.
