it's this game that came out 2 years ago by a small valve dev team, i think it's called strike 2 or something like that
you can get up-to-date information about the project on their twitter:
https://x.com/CSLegacyGame/

unfortunately there wasn't a lot of information lately, the latest announcement was on March 21:
We're currently preparing our Steam Store page through SteamWorks. Valve needs to then test and verify the game, which could take a few more months.

We're hard at work and can't wait to show you more of the game soon!

Hamless Hog probably confused the game in your question with the "csgo_legacy" beta branch of CS2, not knowing that there actually is a game named "CS Legacy" announced
Didn't Valve finally send them a cease and desist a few days before it was supposed to launch?? I might be mistaking it with a Nintendo mod release.

Just give me more maps and gametypes in CS2. Oh and Update your servers...multi billion dollar company running on super old tech that can barely handle itself.

WHY does Steam have to go down every Tuesday for updates? Why are you not using a rolling update across the servers so you're users can stay online. Their company is losing money every Tuesday when you go offline for even a minute or two. That should be a million or more everytime they do it. Every other tech company does rolling updates. I don't see why Steam should ever be going offline overall across their entire system.

uhhh no, I think you're confusing it with Classic Offensive, and it wasn't a cease&desist but an additional review to make sure that the mod complies with their asset and code redistribution policies.
so as far as I know neither Classic Offensive nor CS:Legacy aren't dead yet.
