CS: GO vs. Call of Duty
My friend (who calls himself a PC gamer when he has one single game purchased and played on his account) is argueing with me that CS: GO, because he has not heard of it, is not as big as Call of Duty when I made the comment "Every PC Gamer knows what CS: GO is." Opinions?

Both are widely known, but for PC, Counter Strike is arguably the most known FPS. Big in terms of what? Because if you look here http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ you can see how many players play each game in the very moment.
CoD is popular on console, where Counter-Strike doesn't exist.

Both are good games but different concepts and game play. I enjoy the MW2 mostly... I need to install that game again. It is fun also good practice for reaction times.

CS:GO - Popular on PC
CoD - Popular on Consoles

Problem solved.
http://steamcharts.com/

Call of Duty BOIII currently has just 7% of the current number of players playing as CS:GO and only 8% of CS:GOs peak player count.

Your friend is a moron.

Another comment that I had made was "CS: GO is to PC as CoD is to console." And in terms of known among PC players, and pulling statistics from Twitch CS: GO is well passed CoD in terms of viewers.

CSGO is not fun... it WAS fun back at 1.6 but now its just money machine.

You're just suffering a "good ol' times" syndrome. CS is at it's best shape with GO in almost every possible aspect.

Steam actually announced that cs go is steams most played game and that day they had over 10 million people in cs go servers all at once

its 2015 and i still need to play on 64ticks,high ping,russians everywhere,smurfers,cheaters.
i loved this game but it became unplayable because of the community... after you lose like 10 matches in Trollpetitive MM and gets only russians or boosted ppl you will change your mind trust me.

and dont tell me its not true because your will lie to yourself.

Counter Strike does exist on consoles, but lets be fair here, casual games suit casual gamers on consoles.
Is Call of Duty bigger than Counter Strike? I would say so, yes When you have half a million people playing Counter Strike and a good few million on Call of Duty, then its obvious.
Comrade Squirrel Nov 16, 2015 @ 3:46pm
That's only because the game is so popular that people do anything they can to abuse the system and get as high as possible. Losing games is party your fault too, it means that you might be overrated.
They chose 64 tick because it's the sweet spot in terms of precision an server load. Keep in mind that other FPS have 30tick rate or even lower. In the end you play with the same tick, you and you enemies, so where's the issue?

Half of million in same time. I doubt CoD actually does that on all platforms together.

They are both different games that suit different types of gamers. I enjoy both, CS more than CoD though.
