Safe to buy skins off community market?
Hey guys, pardon me if this is a stupid question...this is the first time i am doing this and just want to make sure this is a legit way of buying gun skins...

basically, to pay $2.49 for a key and only get 1 (one!) gun skin is a huge rip-off in my opinion, its just way to expensive, at that its not even guarenteed youll get the skin you want. So this method of buying skins is not valid for me....

however in the community market i noticed i can single out exactly that gun skin i want and only pay about 10 cents for it! Cheaper and have more control over the gun you want....question is is this safe? Any scammers on this? i dont want to pay only for it to be a scam and not recieve the skin......

i plan on putting about 5 bucks into my wallet and buying many many skins at 10-30 cents a piece...

smart? no smart? Thanks

The community market gives no room for scamming, you press buy, the money is deducted from your wallet and the item is sent to your account, Valve itself is the middle man.

The worst that can happen is that your money is taken and there is a delay of a few minutes before the skin hits your inventory, in the case of the item servers being slow.

very well then, thank you for easing my mind. Funny thing is, i was completely against microtransactions and spending money on skins, but ive grown so fond of CSGO and the skins that i just need to get my hands on a UMP45 skin...

anyhow, thanks and i appreciate the reply.

The pictures of the skins in Community Market sometimes do not reflect how the skin will look like in the game. Use "Inspect in game" button to see how it looks like in game. And Community Market is safe to buy from. Obviously buying cases and keys are not profitable, but there is a slight chance that you will get a knife skin from cases which are worth hundreds of dollars sometimes.
Hope this helps.

It's worth noting that if you sell anything on the market steam and the game devs take a cut totalling at 15% rounded up. (I think, maybe it's 10, not sure.)

But yeah, np have fun.

yeah, ive been inspecting them in-game. Some look so good dont they? Its hard to resist. Every now and then i do plan on buying the keys for $2.49 since some of the guns in those cases go for more then 10 bucks on the community!

the cases are a rip-off, when you first start opening cases you will get 1-2 really good items and won't get anything good after that. that is how valve get you addicted to opening cases and playing the game. if you go onto youtube there are lots of videos of people opening 100+ cases and getting literally 10c skins. If there is a skin you really want the safe bet is to buy it from the market(which is the safest way to buy skins). you have like <1% chance of getting a knife from a case
All the people with nice inventories have either bought the skins themselves, gambled the skins or a mixture of the 2.

skins get cheaper around sales and when new cases/skin collections come out. people try to sell whatever they have as quick as they can.
the best skins are often the most expensive.
my advice would be to stay away from opening cases, and know that if you do try and get a nice inventory everybody will try scam you. even the nicest skins you will get sick of eventually.
hope this helps!

The only risk of buying within the market is, etc. the item was obtained by the seller through fraud/compromised. The seller might use a fraud credit card and buy that item, the initial cardholder disputes with the bank, the seller gets a hold/cooldown, however you bought it within those periods and you are considered as a launderer for laundering, you will or might not be able to trade/buy/sell in the market anytime more in future.

Valve controls the community market, there is no way to be scammed.
