It doesn't matter if their phone already has 99.9% storage space used. You just need to barrow it for 2 minutes so you can receive the one time SMS message. You don't/wont need to install the app onto it.
Alternatively you could try using an SMS service like Send SMS Now[www.sendsmsnow.com], A Free SMS[www.afreesms.com], Txt2day[www.txt2day.com], and/or GoogleVoice[www.google.com].
Personal opinion
If I were you I would use HandyAndy over BlueStacks. BlueStacks installs apps onto it's self at part of its installation agreement, the "I agree" part of the installation that no one ever reads. The random installation of apps can be mostly blocked by disabling auto updates within GooglePlay, but you wont have to deal with that if you use Andy instead.
