AMD R9 280x Drivers crashing ONLY when playing CS:GO
I have been researching but can't find a solution that fixes my problem, mainly because I barely found people with the same kind of problem so my last hope is this post here. So my AMD Driver has been crashing for about 3 months now whenever I try to play a game of CS. As soon as I am 15-20 minutes into a game my screen stops on the very last frame and begins to stutter. The last sound that was played by the game just plays in a loop until I kill the game via task manager. The thing is everything else works just fine (music, teamspeak etc.) but after I close the game this Windows error pops up: “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”. After I rejoin the game I can play for another 20 minutes and then it happens again. I noticed that usually the first game of the day works just fine but around the end of the first or at the start of the second it starts to crash. And I'm not sure about this one but still want to mention it: I leave the game open in the background very often for about 4-5 hours sometimes and the crash hasn't occured once while the game is in the game is idleing in the background.

My specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
GPU: AMD R9 280x
RAM: 10 Gigs
MOBO: ASRock H97 Killer
Windows 8.1
PSU: Corsair CX600M CX Series Modular, 600W

Things I already tried:
latest Beta-Version of the AMD Driver
Earlier versions of the Driver
Reinstalling Driver
Going to Windows 10 and then switched back to 8.1

Tried posting and researching in many different forums but wasn't able to get a solution.
Hoping for better luck here.

As i see it, your 280 is probably overheating, or there isn't enough power to power it. I read up on it, and it seems 620w is the lowest reccommended for the 280x. I would bring the whole computer to a service station and let them have a look, other than that buy a new PSU with 700-750w. Let me know how it goes! :-)

Yeah that was my first guess too but why would the card work fine with games like Witcher 3 or MGSV on high - very high settings? CS is literally the ONLY game thats crashing.

I have this problem too, and i'm running a amd 7900 series card. trying to figure out how to stop it! Have you tried capping the frame rate or underclocking the card?

I found the problem a long time ago. For me it was AMD Gaming Evolved (the Raptr thing). After I unintsalled that everything started to work fine.

I had the same problem, with my amd 7970 card. When I don't run raptr, it won't crash, but with raptr on it will. No problems with other games though.

Try installing the new crimson driver....delete local cache file and reinstall the full game and do an integrity check....I use 280x and same thing used to happen with me....did a full reinstall and integrity check, worked for me....u may also try lowering the video setting with no msa

And I never used raptr...so can't say about the raptr thing.

its amd they tend to crash here and there its not a surprise anyways did you try a factory reset of your pc/clean install and or uninstall all drivers and stuff like that and installing the last known working on example 14.1

Having the same problem with the same GPU too. Although I don't even have AMD Gaming Evolved installed... What else could that be then?

Try disabling multicore rendering, but may affect your fps
