Re-enable chat between teams in competitive
Not being able to banter at the enemy team during halftime and match end reduces enjoyment, and sportsmanship, there's no point saying good half or gg, its just eerie silence now.

Thoughts?

This is probably exactly why they did this change, people complained about it before and people complain about it now. Personally I think it`s a nice change as I don`t have to hear my opponents trashtalking us making our mood or even team spirit fall. But I`ve read a few other thoughts were we should be able to hear each other until every player has connected and the 60 second warm up timer starts, (Then you`ll only be able to hear your team to discuss tactics) which I`m more than fine to see implemented! :P

Why do some people get to decide everyone's voices should be muted?

If you played competitive at any rank, you know that noone im Valve MM discusses strats or tactics beforehand

I get that people do hate the trashtalking, but why couldn't valve have enemy team voice enable 0 as default, so that people who enjoy bantering with the enemy team at warmup, halftime and match end can enjoy it.

I understand that valve wants to pander to children and make a more inviting social environment, but why alienate a huge base of players in the process?

That's sportsmanship?
To gloat?

I think you people are very confused what the word sportsmanship actually means.

'Sportsmanship' is an aspiration or ethos that a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.

Gloating is neither sportsmanlike nor respectful.
We do it to talk ♥♥♥♥ and to hopefully get a rise out of the opponents resulting in them losing focus.
It has zero to do with sportsmanship so stop saying that.
If you want to ♥♥♥♥ talk your opponents then do it in chat or accept that Valve frown upon it.

i like the idea of being able to discuss strats during the warm-up, but halftime and end of the game, we should be able to talk to the other team.

Quick question, does anyone know if the monsters and gods, cobblestone and all those collections now drop as normal drops?

@Electro
nice cherrypicking, ♥♥♥♥ talking is prevalent, but that doesn't mean it's the only aspect of communicating with the other team. Typing glhf or gg isn't anywhere near the same as talking to the other team thru voice, and now the intermissions are awkward and silent.

That`s how a community work. Valve has probably noticed how much harassment there`s been during these periods and the majority of the voice communication between the teams have been mostly trashtalk, therefore they`ve implemented this. There`s always gonna be those people who ruins it for everybody else, we just have to accept it and adjust to it.

"That's how a community work"

really? thats how a community 'work', by reducing communication, to protect a minority from banter (which is now verbal harassment?), a setting that can be disabled anyway?

i'm not sure how offended you're expecting to get in a game where you shoot terrorists in the head. valve could just make it optional so that people who wanted to re-enable chat could.

You can say GG in text chat. No need to use voice communication for that.

Also, what does bantering have to do with "enjoyment" or "sportsmanship"? Being rude to each other (which is the case most of the time) is the exact oppsosite of what those two terms stand for.

But valve chose to do it this way, there is nothing me nor you can do except of adapting to the new ways of chatting with the enemy team. They did this for a reason, they probably had a good one like they had with the M4A1-S.
Bring it back! I don't like this new update and it makes competitibe lobbys less fun.
BrosBe4Foes Oct 2, 2015 @ 2:04pm
I like it now. Before the update people just flamed and insulted each other most of the time. So thats probably why they blocked the voice com.
