New player what fundamentals should I learn first?

Hey-o fighting game player checking back into Csgo after not playing for a bajillion years.

Are there any popular guides or videos / terminology I can go find/ learn? I see a lot of mix results when I ask questions like “Is crouching okay” because it’ll pull up CSGO 1 most the time, and I realized crouching seems to changed a ton mechanically. I did find a video saying it’s a good strat for spraying with rifle but maybe a bad habit for noobs. I realized that’s maybe why I keep getting head shot 1500 miles away with an AK47, or they’re legacy players .


Anyway! That’s that, the community is so huge it’s kind of tough to weed out what’s good and wants not so good to focus on as a noobie other than playing the game.

Crouching is totally fine, but good counter strafing is better. You should try, and use both. When you crouch, your accuracy is a little bit higher, and your movement is slower, so you counterstrafe easier with crouching, but your mobility is bad. If you crouch, you need time to stand up, and return your movement speed. Counter strafing without crouching is a bit harder, but you could move faster.

Learn counterstrafing first.

Or else your aim doesnt matter.

Play deathmatch for LITERALLY 10,000x more practice.

Learn how angles work (war owl video about it).

Learn how to shoot AK FIRST. DO NOT be that noobtastic kid who gives up on learning rifles so you can be a shotgun main.

Just like your fighting games. learn to read the enemy movement and develop a sense on their possible next move, then counter it.

All those tutorials on how to aim, how to strife are only useful against bots. You can do special moves, super damaging combos in fighting games - but when it couldn't hit your opponent, what's the point.

You should start by learning C++, visual studio and tools such as ghidra.
