How should I upgrade my PC for CS2? Low GPU usage
Hello, I have bought below pc recently and I feel like something is wrong with this setup when playing cs2. My GPU sits on 50% on mid/high 1440p settings and I get 150-250 fps. Changing settings to lower does not increase my fps much, it only decreases GPU usage to like 30-40%. What is intresting: when I am in main menu GPU usage is at 100% and I get 350 fps. Similar thing happens on empty map where I get around 280 fps. My initial thoughts are that I should upgrade the CPU for like 12th or 13th gen i7 and sell My RAM and get two 16GB sticks. Do you have any other suggestions?

CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F 2.50 GHz
RAM: 1X32GB DDR5 4800MHZ
GPU: PALLIT RTX 4070 SUPER
MB: asrock h610m-hdv/m.2+ d5
SSD: 1000GB M.2 NVMe
PSU : 700 W 80PLUS

CSGO/CS2 is more dependent on CPU as I have an i9-12900k E-cores off, P-cores at 5200, HyperThreading ON, C-State OFF, Crappy RTX 3060, 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM and in deathmatch for d2, my VProf shows AVG FPS: ~420-450 P1= ~250-270 FPS.

I don't know where you are from but get a deal on CPU + MOBO + RAM combo as I paid ~$420 for I9-12900k Z790 Mobo + 32 GB DDR5 6000 RAM... You have a M.2, better gpu than me and that PSU is exactly what I bought to go with my build.

Have tried to OC your CPU? My GPU sits at 30% usage while playing CS2 and my CPU temps stay around 50-60 degrees

Look on youtube as your CPU can be OC'd to good number from what I am seeing

Hmm, I have question here did you enable XMP profile in BIOS setting and enable cpu turbo boost? I had this issue before, it's like the game not increase fps much although you got pretty good gpu hope this may help :steamhappy:
Thank you for your answers.
"The Intel Core i5-12400F does not support overclocking due to the lack of a "K" suffix in its model name" - so I guess this one is a no go.
I live in Poland and the I9-12900k alone costs 500$ xd (new one). I contacted the place where I bought the pc in and I could switch the CPU to a better one.
Regarding bios, yes I have updated it and enabled all the turbos and xmps etc - didnt help.
rezz, what settings you play on? those are impressive numbers for 3060.

Hehe Iam using 720p windowed all lowest settings and AMD "Super Flide FX" just "Balanced", "Magnification Mode" just "Pixel" with Zoom 2 in Advanced Video :steamhappy:
I remembered in NVIDIA Control Panel there were "Prefer Maximum Peformance" with power and set to "High-performance with NVIDIA processor".
Maybe in the future if you can afford more stick of 32 GB of DDR5 Ram at same speed you got could lead to better result :steamhappy: (Linus Tech Tips did mention this affect to peformance from series "Gaming PC Secret Shopper")

I play on i7 12700, 3060, 1920x1080 mostly max settings and only get 150-200 fps dust 2.
I would look at cpu upgrade and just get another stick of ram that matches your current type. Either that or lower some of the advance video settings, just look into which ones are cpu intensive and lower
bro lets switch processors, will be a better match :D
I just bought a cheap hp computer, there was a gpu shortage at the time. Now I need a new computer already :’(
I have upgraded to i7 12700KF (was thinking about 13 & 14th gen but got the best deal on this one) and it is much better now. I play on 1440p HIGH settings and in 5v5 competetive on mirage I get 250-330 FPS. On d2 DM it's 150-220 FPS. I think if I went for even better CPU I would get a little better performance (GPU is at like 60-90% usage), but since I have the 170hz monitor the 12700 seems to be enough. Perhaps I will simply OC this one in the future.
