I opened about 83 cases from the new Gallery Case so you don't have to..
What was the price of The Armory $16.99 x 5 so about $85. I didn't think I'd ever get that back, unless maybe I sat on some items and sold them later. I just assumed I bought into Valve's money grab. If they paired this with some new maps or game modes, they could call this a new operation or whatever and it would be less of a money grab.

I could hold onto the cases and try to sell them.. but they were .99 cents at the time I had them and by the time market restriction they were worth way less.

My initial opening I opened 48 cases. $2.60 x 48 = $124.80. My initial experience was horrible. For the first 8 or 10 cases everything going by me was BLUE.. no glimpses of any other color (ie: better skins).

Opened 47 Gallery Cases and 1 Dreams and Nightmares case I had.

# StatTrak = 1, Battle-Scarred = 3, Well-Worm = 6, Field-Tested = 22, Minimal Wear = 14, Factory New = 1

# Skins worth less than $1 = 33

# Skins over $20 = 2
# Skins over $1 less than $7 = 11

Top two skins:

AK-47 - The Outsiders (Minimal Wear) - Current value $76.53

AK-47 - The Outsiders (Battle-Scarred) - Current value $20.81

Total Current Value (at the time I opened them): $155.65 - minus fees if I sell them all $135.36 So by the time I got past the market restriction on selling the items they're worth way less and I definitely wouldn't make my money back. By the time restriction was up everything was worth half of what they once were.

I just opened up another 29 cases and got even worse items than last time. The only skin worth over $10 was the same stupid skin worth like $17.76 at the time.

At least when they make those operations I always make my money back by playing new game modes, getting rewards, and selling said rewards.

Total spend $285.15 and if I sold everything for cash I'd make less than $100.

There is very little chance you can "break even" opening 50 cases. It doesn't get better when you decide to open more. I feel you though, normally new items you can sell of for a decent price (first week of trad-ability on Armory stuff I made like $90 off of one pass), but their 7 day window is making it very hard to do that and I couldn't sell those same items I initially did for 20% of what they originally sold for a few weeks ago.

I don't open "a lot" of cases other than these. Not counting these cases, in the past I've unboxed a $400 knife that had a rare pattern someone told me, I ended up selling around $300 cash.. I also unboxed gloves a month or so ago I sold for about $309 cash or something. I also unboxed a m4a1s Hyperbeast which I sold for around $75 or something in store credit. So I think I'm ahead or at least close.. I don't think I've opened 260 cases in my lifetime.

Any time I unlock skins I set them aside for trade up if it's something I didn't want. That way I can trade all the way up to red and get a decent skin, make the money back that way. If the cases eventually stop being sold for 2.49 by valve or 1.99 whatever it is, the price for remaining cases will increase and the skins will be more coveted
