Thread Starvation (Performance Issue.)
Hello everyone,

- I'm having an issue for quite some time.
And i was wondering what does this error mean and what triggers it?
I've recently installed CS:GO on my PC, which had Windows 11 and i encountered this issue after starting the game.
I tried ignoring it and playing for a bit, but the gameplay is just unplayable.
I saw, that my FPS was dropping constantly below 20, i've had minimum of 35 to maximum of 40-50 in matchmaking before a year.
As i said i recently installed the game again after vanishing from the internet for a year and a half before.

I had dual boot with Windows 11 and Ubuntu, but i had to reinstall the PC today.
What i am saying is... even if my PC had any kind of Malware/Worms/Trojans/RATs before - i reinstalled the entire OS today and the error is still the same... which sucks.

- Did you update graphics drivers? - Yes
- Did you update Windows ? - Yes
- Did you scan for viruses ? - No viruses it's fresh install of Windows.
- Have you debloated the junk of Windows ? - Yes

I'm wondering if someone had encountered this error too?

I'm up for suggestions and tips on resolving the error!
Feel free to share below.

The error is as follows:

"SteamNetworkingSockets lock held for 6.2ms. (Performance warning.)
ServiceThread, RecvUDPPacket
This is usually a symptom of general performance problem such as thread starvation." :csgoct:

Specs? Windows 11 is generally unstable for gaming right now. Stick to Windows 10

@Веља - Specs doesn't matter. My fps was stable, before they started putting all of those "operations" and ruining the game.
I'm with Windows 10 now.
I'm pretty sure, some people have encountered this error as well.

Specs actually do matter. I've ran X4 840 and RX 570, 80FPS maximally. Now, I can pull 4-5 times more FPS with newer CPU.
RivØlta Dec 16, 2021 @ 7:35am
@ Веља - That's true.
But specs doesn't matter for me, since i will not be able to afford a new configuration for the next 2-3 years probably.
The thing is that, ... not everyone have this error some people have it, and some don't.
As i've said before - my fps was way better and stable before a year now i get this error and i can't play.

I've been having this problem for two weeks now, I've seen other people here on the forum with this same problem and it seems that only Valve can solve it in an update. The other people who had this same problem basically did the same things you did and didn't get any results either. We can only wait, unfortunately

@m3rc4 Unfortunately yes i think, we’ll have to wait Valve, to fix the problem in an upcoming update. :/

This is a steam client issue, here is the work around.

Launch steam client with the option -no-browser

Steam will launch with most ui disabled, launch csgo and enjoy.

The fix for sure works in Ubuntu, try it on Linux.

Make sure the switch works, you can tell as steam will load missing most of the ui.

I'm having the same issue, my framerate is dropping from 200fps down to 80 after a few rounds. I've tried using DDU to uninstall my graphics driver and try other drivers. I've moved the csgo game files onto a brand new SSD, re-installed csgo onto the new SSD.

'logaddress_add 1' only seems to work when the framerate drops below 10fps.

i7 4790K, GTX1080, 24GB RAM. It just shouldn't be happening.

I used to have the same problem for several weeks. I then changed the steam installation folder from the hdd to my nvm.m2 ssd and it was gone for most of the time. It came back recently, but without the frame drop spikes, only the annoying spam in the console.
The problem obviously lies within the steam client and not csgo itself, because I didn't switch the csgo installation.
