How do you install skins?

I tried to download a skin, followed the very little instructions I was given and it didn't work.

I had to reinstall the entire damn game.

Specifically, I tried to download this: http://csgo.gamebanana.com/skins/127202

Can anyone help me?

Don't install any of custom skins, your game just got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ like it did already. Also they might don't even work at secured servers and worse thing which could happen would be a vac ban. Not sure about the vac ban tho.

I think downloadable skins only work for offline games/private sessions.

If you try to enter online games with a custom skin, you might have some problems with VAC.

The workshop isnt custom skins you download and use in-game, theyre people who create skins and want to be noticed by valve.

Ok. Did you know that those custom skins showing only for you? Other players (if you can even play on puplic servers) see only regular skin.

Thanks captain obvious. I'm not that new to skins and such, and I have installed mods for fallout new vegas before properly, I just can't figure out how to install weapon skins for csgo, and even other games like tf2.

These skins dont work on valve servers only on your server vac will not let you connect to a vac server but you can start your own and play on it there

Let me clarify something: The nova and sawed-off do not have their normal skins, they are just an 'ERROR'.

You guys are dumb. Vac has nothing to do with skins, unless you bypass sv_pure to see them on every server.

my question is, then how do players get weapons with names other than the standard/official ones that you get from drops/cases/etc ?? Like, this guy nickbunyun has a knife called "Brownie Slicer" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XafZsFfn77Q), ive seen one of the kinguin players with an AK that is named "<something> Kinguin.net" ... this is what made me believe there were custom skins being used by people.. Perhaps people are just customizing the names?
