Also most people get skins for themselves (for aesthetics) and not to flex, this why in old times skinchangers were extremely popular even though no one else could see hacked skins.
And I was fine (and actually preferred it) when we could just swap weapon models ourselves in CS 1.6 and they looked like that in everyone's hands
However I don't rent because I don't like anything time-limited at all. If I rented a skin, gotten one that I really like (doesn't always have to be the "lowest float" and best pattern etc, personal preference) and the next week I would have gotten it looking different I wouldn't like it.
And for your rented skins it would take a month to turn $15 into 0. So if you use that $100 covert for over a month you’re already a winner.
