5800X3D has limited availability nowadays and is out of stock everywhere in the UK. If it's available in your country, and you're willing to pay more for it, then buy it.
Also, what RAM do you have?
No CPU upgrade needed. If you still go for it, just be sure it is 8C16T or more.
"Just be sure it is 8C16T or more."
Yeah having more cores and threads is nice, but what he really needs is Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D because of their 96MB L3 Cache.
It makes all the sense in the world to upgrade his CPU, because with 5700X3D or 5800X3D he will get a very good FPS boost over Ryzen 5 5600X.
it is improvement. yes. but its so small that its just wasting money and making no sense. either he keep his system and dont upgrade, or he upgrade to AM5, ofc that would cost more, but it would make more sense since AM4 is dying anyway, basically dead already, and IF buying new pc or upgrading, AM5 just makes the most sense. still his specs are ok and he doesnt need to, but just saying.. IF. then AM5
Obviously it would be much better to upgrade to AM5 platform, but it's up to him if he can afford it or not. I am just giving him advice based on his requirements.
