Cs:source playerbase grew a lot since cs2s release.
I mean they can do much more than they could on Source 1 with Source 2 against cheaters, it's just that they just don't now (why — I don't know)
If they were to revert the game back to CS:GO right now the situation would have been the same as it is in CS2 now
OK throw it!
*entire enemy team dies*
Then they debuffed the nades
But if you inspected your weapon you could reset the recoil. See: happy deagle ace. It's still impressive but it was an exploit
Then there was the half wall exploit on inferno and on other maps where you could jump and see the enemy but they couldn't see you
The game might feel cooked, but I imagine if I just play more matches and try to make the right plays, my trust score will go up and I'll see even less cheaters.
The jumpthrow fiasco I was upset about, isn't such a big deal because jumping is more consistent now and movement is more important than doing a jumpthrow...especially if all you need to do is aim down for lineups
Bad matches come down to trust level. I just found out my trust level on faceit is 7 out of 100. Probably because I created my account in 2017, played 24 matches, won only 8 of them, then took an extremely lengthy break and I've played 3 matches (well, one I couldn't finish due to dropped internet), but I encountered a cheater, so it's because faceit is wondering....why did I start playing on their servers after years and years? Plus, skill improvement? Well, faceit keeps trust level in mind from match to match and analyzes your performance. So right now I probably look very odd playing with higher knowledge of the game due to watching lvl 10 and pro play more intently and practicing mechanics.
When csgo first came out there were like 14,000 players. Then it grew to hundreds of thousands. They couldn't all have been legit accounts, right? Well, yes. Not all of them were legit. Statistically speaking, impossible given that there are people who write code to make cheats
When vac3.0 does go live on all valves servers that hopefully they upgrade, we will see more bans in action. It's still only applied to some comp matches I'm pretty sure.
Trust factor is a thing, make sure you don't have people you play with that cheat, faceit finder will tell you what % have a ban, queue with other players without cheats, or soloQ and grind matches.
I had a really pathetic looking account when csgo came out and I grinded the hell out of the game.
The playerbase is massive, so of course there are more cheaters than early days of csgo. Even later on in csgo I still came across spinbotters and ragehackers before I took my massive break from the game.
I was frustrated with csgo in it's infancy, and I am frustrated now with cs2 in it's infancy, and a lot of cs titles had lackluster amounts of content when they first came out.
The beta for cs:s was just playing de_dust1 over and over again. Not even dust2. Dust1. Csgo had cheaters basically during it's entire lifespan, they're in every online game, even ones I never have heard of. They'll fake speedruns or world records. It's not just games like cs2 or cod or any recent titles. Just look at Billy Mitchell. Donkey Kong.
Who would cheat at Donkey Kong? Well....Billy Mitchell would.
Check out Karl Jobst on yt you'll see him and the community catching cheaters in very obscure games.
I wish all cheating could be eliminated...but the internet exists, and programming cheats is something that's possible....so that's why this situation exists
