[Linux] Brightness doesn't change
Hi everyone.

I play CS:GO on Linux and can't change the brightness, it's always at the standard brightness.
I tried different things.
I put the command "mat_monitorgamma 1.9" in my autoexec and tried it manual in game with the console, but it didn't work.
I have a problem to see the enemys in dark corners, because I have bad eyes.
So I only want to raise the brightness in a legit limit, but thats not possible.
It worked with my old Nvidia GT 630, but it hasn't enough graphics power to run game as I like to.

My PC:
OS: Xubuntu 15.10 (I use Compiz as WM, because it has almost double fps in Games)
CPU/GPU: AMD A10-7850k with latest fglrx-update

If you need any further infos, feel free to ask. I don't know what else to post.
If so, I'm sry for my bad english. I'm from Germany.

pls CS:GO devs,

pls give my thread at least attention. I have a problem with this game and you don't even response. I don't blame the community, but you should even give support if you release it for linux.
By the way I got this issue on all Ubuntu versions I tried. (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, in all different releases 14.04, 14.10, 15.04, 15.10)

So PLEASE Valve help me or fix this.

The problem is, that if I change it in the "color tab" it changes brightness in desktop too and then it looks overbright.

So yeah, Vale please fix!

Are you using GNOME because I had the same problem.
Switching to GNOME on Xorg helps with the brightness issue and improves FPS over Wayland, which vanilla GNOME uses.

This worked for me but may not work for others.

OS - Arch Linux

Hey guys. I found a temporary workaround for this using the xrandr package.
It was available by default for me on Ubuntu 20.04.
Use sudo xrandr to check if it is installed and if present when you run it, it shows the current display connected.
Use this command to change the gamma:
sudo xrandr --output eDP-1-1 --gamma r:g:b(Replace r,g,b with desired values. 1.0 by default. Replace eDP-1-1 with the display it shows for you).

This is how it looked for me:
sudo xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 16384 x 16384
eDP-1-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm

sudo xrandr --output eDP-1-1 --gamma 1.5:1.5:1.5

Edit: You don't need sudo to run this command
I bound it as a keyboard shortcut to change increase the gamma for the game and restore it back to normal

The only problem with this workaround is that it changes the gamma entirely. This is my first time giving a solution for something. Hope it helps you out. I'm quite new to Linux btw :D
