Is it possible to DDoS someone else who's in your match?
Not so long ago I started playing an MM match. Few rounds into the game a person started flaming me and I lost the connection to the server for like 10 seconds and then I regained it.

Once I regained the connection, the same person posted my IP address in the chat and threatened to cut down my internet connection. I didn't believe him, but half a minute later my internet went down completely.

I restarted my router, PC and only then got my connection back. Though it was too late because I was already late to re-join the game and got a cooldown.

I'm not aware of how DDoSing works so I'm asking if it was possible that he DDoS'd me? And how did he obtain my IP address?

Yes, because once your connected, its possible to find other players ips

Yes but you would need that persons information. And steam doesn't reveal it to anyone.

Wow, I mean that's just absurd. First time I've seen something like that happen.. and it happened to me. Is there a way to protect myself from getting DDoS'd?

Not through steam

Then how could he have gotten my IP?

Stop giving people your information, that's protection enough

Are you his friend? Have you given him your ip?

Please. I had no connection to the guy whatsoever. I only got matched up with him in MM.

No, he got matched as my enemy in the game, nothing else. Never seen the guy before.

Sounds like you didn't get dossed them

He can't get your ip through steam or csgo.
Did he post your actual ip? Might have been trolling you.

Well, I'll call my ISP tomorrow anyway to find out. But honeslty, my internet connection has never went down before. And HE posted my IP address, then it goes down, quite a coincidence?

I didn't believe it was my IP at first, because I too, thought, that he was trolling, but then I checked it and it was right...
