Need an explanation on skin drops

Hello there fellow cs:go players. I am a beginner and I don't fully understand how the drops work in this game. How do I get new wepons, skins, stickers etc.? When I play a match, at the end of it on the right side it says that some players got a weapon, case or something else. I still haven't gotten any of that. Do I just need to keep playing or is there something else I need to know? Thanks in advance :)

With the current xp system, you get a skin drop when you rank up once a week. It resets around every Tuesday or Wednesday. Skin drops are mostly only dropped from ranking up, and cases are periodically given to a random few during a match.
Stickers are only obtainable through opening sticker capsules, buying them off the market, checking your daily offers, or through trading. They do not drop like skins and cases.

every time you level your 'rank' up, you get a weapon skin drop. But only once per week, even if you level up twice. Weapon crates which require keys drop up to twice per week i believe. The week resets early wednesday morning for me, so even if i get a drop tuesday morning, i am eligible again the next day provided i level up again. By rank i mean the rank you gain XP points for but not your comptetitive matchmaking rank. Some people will tell you that you can get multiple skins per week but don't listen, the system changed a little while back. Some people also think if you buy old operation coins you can get those drops, don't listen to them either. They were limited time drops.

If you want to check out various collections go to csgostash.com. The collections that don't have a case associated with them are the ones that drop randomly without requiring a key, though some collections are discontinued.

Yes, weapon drops will drop once a week if you gain a xp rank. I'm not sure if they still do random drops, but from my experience, I don't think skins can be dropped randomly anymore.

that's what i meant by weapon skins. New weapons don't drop, just skins for the existing weapons.

I got lucky once and scored a tec9 nuclear threat. Sold for $15. I'm afraid to look up the current price
