Do you need a prime account to open a case

For one reason or another i need to open a single csgo crate. One of my friends says you need prime and another doesn't, id rather find out before buying

You don't necessarily need prime to open cases. Prime just allows you to get drops on a weekly basis which might be cases or skins and with prime you will also get a rank and gain xp. Even if you don't have prime you can always buy cases and their keys from the market and open them.

not a basic fact based serach and apparently randos on the internet... thats for sure good sourcing. the only things NON primes are robbed of are ranks drops ability to get free prime.

which WOULD be basic if you looked up teh patch where they had the of removal of free prime ... it clearlay states this... All that they lOST is the ability to gain ranks. xp or get drops. nothing about the marketplace or buying selling items or opening crates. UNLESS you are from such countries that have banned gambling... again.. basic ♥♥♥♥.... google "can you open creates in csgo without prime" and lemme know where you find that. Sprry for not checking update patchnotes??

who would use gooogle... their is legit a search function for csgo forum specific ON THE FORUM PAGE... *facepalm* LEGIT see zero pages about anyone mention needing PRIME for opening cases. just some peopel who though prime meant you didnt need keys.... and the news tab shows update patch notes.... are you just new to steam? sounds like bait you got your answer but you continue to troll on like you're not. lost cause.
