Go to NVIDIA Control Panel and change scaling from Display to GPU.
1. **Check Windows Display Settings**:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
- Ensure that your monitor is set to 144 Hz. If it’s not, change the refresh rate to 144 Hz.
2. **Check Cable and Connection**:
- Ensure you are using a cable that supports 144 Hz (such as DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0). Older cables or adapters may only support 60 Hz.
- Make sure the cable is properly connected to both the monitor and the graphics card.
3. **Update Graphics Drivers**:
- Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel website, depending on your graphics card.
4. **Check Monitor Settings**:
- Some monitors have settings that can limit the refresh rate. Access your monitor’s on-screen display (OSD) menu and ensure it is set to 144 Hz.
5. **Verify Game Settings**:
- Open the video settings in your game and ensure that the refresh rate is set to 144 Hz. Sometimes, game settings can be reset or overridden.
- If the option for 144 Hz is not available, try setting the game to borderless window mode and then back to full-screen mode.
6. **Disable V-Sync**:
- In some cases, V-Sync can limit the refresh rate to 60 Hz. Ensure that V-Sync is disabled in both the game settings and your graphics card’s control panel.
7. **Reset Game Configuration**:
- Some games allow you to reset the configuration settings. Look for an option to reset the game’s video settings to default.
8. **Check for Software Conflicts**:
- Some third-party software, such as screen recording or overlay programs, might interfere with the refresh rate settings. Try disabling any such software.
9. **Power Cycle Your Monitor**:
- Turn off your monitor, unplug it for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
10. **Reinstall the Game**:
- As a last resort, try reinstalling the game. This can resolve any corrupted game files or settings causing the issue.
i will try all of this out
Close steam, install app, update drivers. Launch steam and accept suggested settings.
Done. The game looks better than it ever has for me.

Anyone telling you to revert drivers or move back in time at all is just trolling you.
