CS2 on GNU/Linux is unstable!
I get the following issues very often:

1. Mouse movements are lagging and it gets worse if i try playing in a low resolution
2. If i enable vsync my mouse inputs sometimes gets unresponsive for example if i bhop with mouse wheel, fire weapon, and repeat it, some of my button actions does not respond in game.
3. Sometimes it kicks me with no steamlogon errors (Game thinks that i am not running Steam HOW?)
4. Hammer editor and other Source 2 tools are not even available for Linux, a community full of development knowledge doesn't have access to them which is ridiculous
5. There is no single patch that fixed any issues i listed here since CS2's release.

its so true, every game of my is like that. Gonna go back to windows soon.
for the mouse issue: does it get "stuck" and needs to be pushed hard to move again?

i've been going insane over this for like a year since i started playing csgo, i still can't tell if it's my mouse, deskpad or the game

not from your list but: do you get weird stuff with shader compilation?
see this thread for what i mean: https://steamcommunity.com/app/730/discussions/0/4352242259548875659/
so sad, but so true. and sometimes microlagging
No issues here, check your mouse poll rate and Google that to understand what might be happening. So try below 1000hz to debug/confirm

Plenty of users don't have issues and don't come here to say it's working fine, so maybe there is a common cause. Distro/kernel. I run a gaming kernel and it's always been more stable and reliable then windows.

this is unfortuantly true, cs2 has no native linux support for some reason, valve seems to be not giving up but defo pulling back resources on proton. New proton versions break certain games and you have to revert back, but yet works fine on steamOS. Feels like there ensuring it works on their Linux Distro while ignoring others.

L4D2 still works fine native on linux, same with other source games, CS2 doesnt work at all, completely borked for me. CSGO worked fine however.

Tried on X11 and Wayland, no luck. Its unfortunate to see as Valve is the major driver for linux compatibility in games.

Broken for you yes, not others.... When will people learn.

Install a stable and not bleeding edge distro...

My Debian based flavored has no issues... Because it's made to be reliable and stable, it's not steamOS and yet its flawless.

It's always amazing how when someone has a system issue, they assume everyone is having the same problem.

CS2 works perfectly fine with it's native build on Linux providing your distro is not screwed up and you have no messed it up.. there are a few quirks which affect multiple games/all games but a little googling and you should easily resolve them otherwise just go back to the sheepish windows where you are the product

Perhaps mention what your actual "issue/fault" is or what errors you are getting and someone who actually pays attention/knows what they are doing will give you advice.. but don't just say it doesn't work... It sounds like BS.

ProtonDB will disagree with you there man,
I use Arch Linux, whats your point? ProtonDB agrees with me, people have been complaining on the proton github for months about how broken it is.

Research man, come on your a linux user, when will people learn.

and I did say what was wrong, It is borked, meaning it does not launch at all.
Thats what borked means.....

CSGO worked flawlessly yet CS2 comes out and plenty of people from all different distros including your own, are having issues. Check github, reddit and protondb.

Starting from top of current posts on protondb.
1: compositor issue
2: slight performance issue doesn't help
3: the polling rate issue
4: possible bad kernel/distro or Nvidia driver

I bet most of them like you are running a stock kernel which is not recommended when gaming otherwise the 20second lag is a current issue for past few updates which will eventually be resolved but doesn't affect everyone.

I could submit my working report on there but again people only visit or comment at times when an issue or excited by unexpected flawless results.

Scroll the page, it's 50/50 and again I bet most are running stock kernels which is a typical noob problem.

Try something like liquorix... As for yours not launching.. well they don't have that issue so again you clearly have a unreliable setup and is not specific to the game.

Edit: not to mention at a quick glance, most appeared to be Nvidia which again is already known to be terrible still.

Solution for you... Get a console

but he is right not everyone face that problem. For me (Debbie) CS2 works also flawlessly.. Dont know why some distros have this problems...
Gaming kernels are configured to support certain CPU features and so on, using a Nvidia card/driver makes more problems and some distroa just suck from the start.

You learn this when you make your own like I did. I bet so many would have the performance issues or crashing resolved if they
1: used a AMD
2: install a gaming kernel
3: use a stable distro
4: use the native build
5: understand there is a known bug for the past few weeks where menus do cause a momentary lag/pause (for me is only on the quit match prompt)

i am not running stock kernel, thanks though!
While it is true perhaps some people are experiencing errors due to the reasons you listed, there are many people including myself that dont fall into that category.

You're doing what I did, it works for you so therefore everyone else MUST be doing something wrong. This thread was about OP talking about how cs2 doesnt work correctly on his distro, I replied with the same thing, explaining how other people also experience issues.

And NVIDIA support on X11 has come a long way. I've been daily driving for 4+ years, and not really encountered an issue I couldnt fix. Except for CS2.

Perfomance is bad on some windows machines (probably ♥♥♥♥ specs but theres a few outcast with good PCs that experience performance issues)

Maybe, just maybe because it works for you, doesnt mean we cant brush past the idea that this game, and proton in general recently, have been suffering.

Of course not everyone has this problem, not once did i say It doesnt work for everyone. I am saying a majority (maybe vocal minority) are having problems with CS2, including myself.

He then proceeds to say that i have no idea what im doing and use default kernels lol

OP is having problems, i reply saying that I too am having problems, then this guy comes in and acts like CS2 isnt a broken mess both on Linux and Windows. For some it will work flawlessly, but you shouldnt be so jumpy to say its the other persons fault and that you clearly know better.

Like most things in life, It will work for some people good for you but just because its working on ur machine doesnt mean that its the other persons fault that it doesnt work on theirs.

I answered the ops lag issue, third point is a steam client issue and needs further info like was it installed via the recommended means and other points are not actually relevant.

Does the op have a gaming kernel along with the mouse being set below 1000mhz or running it via a usb3 port... Well that's why I suggested what I have.

But you can't even open the game which others on protondb don't have the issue of.

So your alone here... Go buy a console or learn not to break your setup and blame something that is your own doing or try a stable distro

I'm using the context available here and only here

again so quick to judge.
My distro is fine and plethera of other games work just fine. CS2 Is broken on windows and Linux atm.

Youre a guy who thinks they know it all. You're not.
I am familiar with my distro and I know how to operate it, thanks though.
Again JUST BECAUSE IT WORKS ON UR DISTRO DOESNT MEAN IM AT FAULT FOR BREAKING THE GAME. That worked less than a year ago.

https://devrant.com/rants/2341310/always-works-on-my-machine

Always these "it worked on my machine" guys so quick to judge others for their incompetence instead of saying hm maybe the game is somewhat broken. My god man.

You clearly cant read protonDB almost the entire first page are off people complaining about similar issues as myself and countless more.

Is it all of those peoples fault they have isues or maybe just maybe the game is a tiny bit broken atm....
