CS2 16:9 will not allow me to play at 144hz
Starting off; 144hz is active on all monitors, so lets get that out of the way.

Since February I have been unable to play on 16:9 because it won't let me select a higher hz then 120. I have looked up guides on how to fix this but none of them have worked... wondering if anyone else is or has experienced this issue.

I am only able to play on 4:3 at 144hz but even then, since the most recent update, my game won't push out more then 50-60fps... Valve has really messed up something and their optimisation guide was no help either.

Hoping someone's able to share something here.

If you use FPS counter you can see that FPS is stuck at 120 (even with 144hz enabled through this solution), and if you exit settings and check them again the refresh rate is back at 120hz... Sounds like beta bug.

yeah it's actually just so frustrating.. I don't mind playing at 4:3 but now even that is causing me issues when literally 2 weeks ago it was completely fine...

Run into the same problem today. Yesterday everything was fine. Did a nvidia(probably the cause) update and now i cant play 144hz in cs2 on 16:9. However if i select 16:10 or 4:3 i can still play on 144 hz. its strange. I will update here if i can find a solution.

okay i tested further. problem was with fullscreen and windowed. in windowed i had 144 on 16:9 on full screen i couldnt.
I tried switching nvidia setting nothing worked. so i went to nvidia website downloaded the older GPU driver installed it and everything is back to normal, CS2 even told me on the restart of the game, that i play on 60hz and i shloud select 144hz.

yes its this driver issue , I have same version and its only detecting 240hz refresh rate rather than my 280 hz

you can fix this by changing value in C:\Steam\userdata\your ID \730\local\cfg

setting.refreshrate_numerator" "279757"

this will override any other menu settings and you can do any refresh value you want.

the issue could be the early driver build from NVIDIA app, I did not even know I had that enabled...

Downgrade your Nvidia driver version to 555.85 and it should be fixed. I did this way.

install nvidia app, update drivers, launch game, accept changes, play
Should never have to downgrade or revert back in time, tf

in theory yes. but GeForce Experience installed the bad driver. So yes this should not happen but, sometimes you have to downgrade until they fix it. you can also just wait until there is an updated driver on GeForce Experience and play then.
